Yes, Melisil, many thanks for notifying us about your situation...
Goodness! What an interesting twist things have taken....veerry interesting (yes that was a Jack Sparrow imitation)....not how I expected it at all, which is very good because now I have to think of a really good post *evil Calvin grin*. I will try to post as soon as possible...things are going quite nicely on the game... _________________ I have posted and I hope it's okay with everybody. Let the skirmish begin! . Perky Ent, where are you? The last time you posted was on the seventh...almost ten days ago... Cheers! Imladris

Imladris - In your post you referred to the Prince as 'Prince Thorgeleb'. By my understanding, it was one of the other elves called Thorgeleb - Mark12_30, could you confirm one way or the other please?
In Tolkien, other than Legolas, the names of the sons of Thranduil are not actually mentioned, I think - I posted a topic to check this for something else some time last year in The Books, and the replies came that none of the others were mentioned by name. Nice post, Imladris - I especially liked the description of "pale, ivory, willowy elves". Nice...

Hehee! A fight, me hearties! Finally we get to the fine art of disemboweling elf.
... We DO get to cut them, dont we? Just a little bit? Without any of this nonsense 'solving fights by talking'.. *mutter mutter, rant rant rant..*

Lol, well Will since you asked...
No, I think there will not be much solving with words - a full out fight it can be, and yes, you can 'cut them' a little bit Just one condition: Please do not kill any of the elves. They are only NPCs, but for the sake of realism and sticking to Tolkien by not starting an elf-dwarf war which Tolkien somehow didn't mention (and which would probably have severely got in the way of Gimli and Legolas's friendship), please do not kill any of the elves. Bruises, cuts, maybe a broken limb or two - but no deaths please. And it goes without saying that without the owner's permission there will be no dwarven deaths - those will come later *evil* Whether the elves manage to catch the dwarves and bring them to Thranduil or whether they get away by fleeing, yelling catcalls behind them, is up to you lot and how the game pans out - personally, I'd go for number two, what do you all think? Perky Ent, where are you? Please, do post, as after two weeks your character may be considered unplayed and dealt with accordingly.

Huzzah! Another fight! Judging by what you said, Amanaduial , it's going to be generally another fistfight, but more intense?
No drawing weapons, right?

Heh, this is what I'm thinking. It's not a serious fight at all. The elves will basically let the dwarves go, since they aren't really enemies and are just passing through. They will also remember what happened with Thorin and Co.
My thinking is that this is a mere feint to maintain honour on both sides and yes there will be name calling as Aman said. Cheers! Imladris

True, Aman, Thorgeleb is just a courtier, not a prince. Your basic, vanilla wood-elf... .... in my first post I mentioned that Lîs was making a bracelet for one of the courtiers' fiancee; while I was writing the post, I thought perhaps word of mouth might have made Lîs's opal-work popular among the courtiers. Thorgeleb is just a nickname that means Eagle-silver (at least, I hope that's what it means!)
Considering that it is a nickname of endearment known (formerly) only to his fiancee, the name "Thorgeleb" becomes vaguely the equivalent of "Sweetums", or "Snookykins". Feel free to have some fun at the poor chap's expense, Dwarves. The elves won't, because they have to live with the guy... (ps. Aman-- and here I thought we were having an encounter with pre-War Legolas Green-Leaf!! Rats. Oh well, it was a pleasant thought. Shall we name one or three of his brothers? Brown-Pinecone? Tan-Acorn? Red-Twig? Green-Maple-Whirlygig? Grey-Fuzzy-Pollen??)

Aman, are you the sole owner of the elves? What's next? I vote for a bit of mayhem, some bruises and a few lousy shots, lots of name-calling, and at least one elf assigned to track the dwarves til they leave Thranduil's territory, and make sure they stay harmless.
If you're looking for a volunteer, how about Thorgeleb? (raises hand)

Just a little comment, my post will start off before the dwarves enter mirkwood and end where the rest of the group is. So it might seem weird that i'm typing about stuff that already happened, but...it isn't weird...it's just my bad luck!
Furthermore, it isn't my lack of writing skills, but Nali's skitsophrania that will make his letter both in 1st and 3rd person! Sorry, Sorry Sorry

Aman--
Love it! I'm all for your plan. In terms of Balin never asking for directions-- it would be fun to have Thorgeleb figure out that Balin wants *no* help (maybe via discussion with Lînsie* ) and finds some clever elvish way of leading them where they should go-- remember Haldir & friends decoying the orcs with voices? Similar deal. Lînsie being the good buisinesswoman that she is, she'll be looking to keep her elvish customers happy. I just hope nobody calls her a traitor... So-- ho, ho, skirmish away, lads!!! *zing* *duck* *splat* --mark12_30 *Lîs/Lîn gets tedious to write and read after a while. I like "Lînsie " better... I wonder who came up with it, her dad or Balin...

Absolutely wonderful...I'll try and write a post tomorrow sometime (no time tonight more than likely). Yes, I like the idea of getting lost and Lînsie and Thorgeleb figuring out a subtle way of leading the dwarves...
I like the new nickname, btw. Quote:

Congratulations To Me!
I salute myself for two reasons:
1. I got my post posted only one day late! An accomplishment. 2. Unless I'm mistaken, Uzgash is once again leading off the new thread page. He's a representive for us all. Life is about the little things, so I celebrate everything. It makes me a happier person. If anybody has any problems with my latest post, too bad. JUST KIDDING! As always, I'm compleatly flexable with regard to re-writing my posts. I've got another tourney tomorrow, so I'll check back either tomorrow night or Monday afternoon. As it is, I've been on the computer for, lets see...10.5 hours now, and boy am I tired. Yep, I just love my professors. "This shoud be a simple assignment." Yeah, If you're a Yale Law School Graduate! No wonder I enjoy being an orc so much. I have a lot of agression... ~A Slightly Derranged Pyro~

Hi Nilp (do you mind if I call you Nilp?),
Aman and I had planned that Thorgeleb and Lîn be co-conspirators in secretly guiding / luring the dwarves out of danger (and spider-land.) Having your lads interact with him kind of defeats that. I guess I didn't make it clear enough in my post that Lînsie had to go looking for Thorgeleb out of the way... I'll edit; could you please edit too? Thanks. --mark12_30

good, clean, Ungol fun?
Hey, I was just wondering about having a sort of run-in with some spiders. If that's ok, could some of the dwarves get lost in a small group and possibly be saved by Lin and Thorgeleb in some way?

An interesting (fun) idea, Saraphim. I'm alright with it -- mark12_30 , is it alright with you? Mark12_30, I put up a save about Balin and Linsie, but my plan is to have him call her away from Thorgeleb for some kind of counsil about what to do, etc. Is that also okay with you?
Gird Please check your PMs.

All you other dwarves , I've called a counsil about the issue of being lost. Frankly, Balin doesn't quite know what to do about it. Also, entering Mirkwood will prove to be his first mistake which will naturally set things up in Moria. Cheers! Istawen

Perky Ent - I will reply to your PM when I work out how Very cool idea anyway! Just know so far that I like it!
Gah...due to the weather resembling the start of the Wizard of Oz last weekend, I haven't been able to get on for more than a few minutes at a time, and the problem continues, hence the furious pace at which I am typing this and my absence over the past few days. This problem will continue for a while, I'm afraid, and as the wind is due to return with a vengeance, my connection may go all together - the phone line is sort of half down at the moment, so I'm not sure how safe it is me using it at the moment. It should be sorted out by Monday - I will unfortunately not be able to get on tomorrow night due to a concert and will be away on Sunday and Monday on a D of E walk i.e. torture in a pair of walking boots. Apologies about this prolonged delay. I will post if I can on Friday - sorry

I think that the counsil would be a good time for the dwarves to air some opinions on Balin's foolishness if they have anything.
