Welcome, teleriferchnyfain and Idril, I am a Christian too, and there is nothing wrong with that.
In fact my name Tar-Meneldur means (Devoted to Heaven) in Quenya.

Hello everyone,
I'm new here and so I figured I'd stop here at the new members section and say hi. I've been roleplaying for years, though I'm just getting back into forum RPG's, I've been an avid fan of Tolkien and his works for quite some time, and I'm happy to say I'm thrilled and awed by the quality and friendly atmosphere here. I'm more used to heavy fighting Roleplaying since I'm a fencer and swordfighter in real life, but I think I'll find the change to more conversational and adventure-some RPG's to be a tempting new horizon. I hope to see you all around and to get involved as soon as possible. -Endgame |

Thankyou all for your warm welcome. what exactly does role playing invlove? I don't want to get mixed up with anything weird.LOTR role playing may be different from regular role playing, but I know SOME roleplaying can have demonic stuff mixed up with it. If someone could explain what it involves, I'd be really grateful
thankyou ~Idril Celebrindal~ |

Endgame and Idril!
A warm welcome. And go to see the Shire and Rohan sections to find out what RPG'ing here looks like. I think you have no need to worry. Just join in the Shire / The Golden Perch and keep going! It's fun!

Idril, the RPG forums you can get all the information you need on them.
I will assure you something though, and tell you a little story here. I never was the RPG type person, didn't expect to ever do it, never really was a writer, and just didn't seem like it was something that would interest me. The 'Downs RPG forums are probably the best put together and best organized RPGs I have ever come acrossed, and because of that it sucked me in. I'm not a regular at RPing but occasionally I get a knack to just join in something fun and something I'll enjoy for a while. The RPG forums on the downs are far better (as far as the quality of writing, the quality of the scenarios, and the overall organization) than any other forum I have seen. I'm sure you'll love it. Welcome Endgame, I also was amazed at how well this forum had constructed it's RPGs. The typical thing about RPGs I'd find...and what probably turned me off to them as not being interested is either 1) The forum just didn't have them because of how chaotic they could be...or 2) They were so badly organized, all over the place, and just out there, I never got interested. But as you can very well tell here, the mods do take care of their RPG forums very well. Tolkien spent a great deal of time on his stories, but he also experienced life away from the story...life with his family, colleagues, and such, and did so much other work outside Middle-earth that often goes unnoticed. Welcome teleriferchnyfain...I love that quote. There was another one I vaguely remember where Tolkien was talking about this one kid who came up to him and was completely enshrined to the books. In which he sullenly later responded 'I have ruined that kids life.' That's always something important to remember I think...the books are here for our enjoyment and for places like this, not as something we should let rule our lives.

I've been lurking around this forum for a while and finally thought I'd join up, as it seems a cosy enough corner. I have a liking for history and fantasy literature - I blame Narnia at primary school, then Earthsea, then...! I had an enjoyable period playing RuneQuest with some college mates (nostalgia).
I'm no expert at any of the above, just a third-rate dabbler at best. I'm re-reading Lotr, after a gap of many years, having got quite muddled up by watching the first two films and not quite sure if my memory of the book was correct etc. Anyway, that's about it for now I guess. |

Hi to all the new members. ElvenPrincess I'm not sure that it's a good idea to put up your email up like that, you might get spamed really hard.

Welcome to the elven princess and the man of few words. I hope the downs is as cold as you could wish and remember; You have only just started being dead.
Anyways I find it funny that ElvenPrincess e-mail was removed (from her post) for safty reasons, when many of us have made our e-mails public by using the msn function. |

Rune, as you would argue in WW, short and straight to the point is sometimes better than babble...Or maybe it's just one of those things where sometimes I have it and am on a roll, other days not so much.

Hi! I read the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings series about 10-12 years ago, and the Hobbit again last year. These are the best stories I've ever read, and I know I'll keep coming back to them as years go by.
I've never role-played before, but I love writing, so I think this will be fun. |
