Hey, I'm new to the site. I found it while searching for a hobbit/elf name generator. I've heard about the Lord of the Rings series all my life and just recently decided to read it after watching the first movie. I fell in love with _The Hobbit_ and have read up to the Helms Deep chapter of TTT so far (as well as briefly looking over other chapters of TTT and RotK... what? I wanted to see if any of the main characters got killed off).

Greeting to all! I know some on this sight, but I know Genevieve the most (crazy people we both are). I've been having the most fun in a while on this site, and it lets me escape the evil that is 6-9:30 rehersals (shudder). Well, dead is better!

Hello, everyone. I'm new. I just found this place and was lookin' around... Heh heh. I love message boards and when I was surfing around everyone here seemed really nice, so I figured I'd sign up and talk to some other Tolkien freaks like me Woo! Friends! I need those...
Any-woo, hi, everyone.

It's great to aboard Middle Earth with all of you. Just got here from the Undying Lands. What? You didn't think the Valar
were going to leave you here without any new guidance. Just to introduce myself - no I am not a God. I am a direct descendant of Feanor! Manwe thought it might be good if one of Finwe's relatives showed up here that wasn't looking for trouble.

Hello all!
I dig the Barrow-Downs (no pun intended) and have gotten to read a lot of entertaining discussions here. I hope to get along with everyone, and of course enjoy myself (Though I also hope visiting the Downs won't become an adicting activity). And yes, I enjoy being dead.

Greetings, all. I'm a newbie to this forum but not LOTR discussion groups, having bashed quite a few people in them. Just so that everyone won't ask me, RoA stands for Rebels of Arda. Its the clan I'm in on Starcraft and I decided to use my username for this as well. So, um, I'm off to make myself known.

Hey all and welcome! I think its time we thought up something rather than "enjoy being dead." What about......."dig the grave well" or "have fun haunting the Downs"
C'mon guys, help me here! And BTW, welcoem newbies! Get out there and make yourselves known!

Hi ya all!
I consider myself as a newbe, even though I have spent about three whole-non-stop months here. You see, I just found this thread among the millions, yeah I feel like there are millions of threads here. It's almost confusing for a individ like me.. Anyway, the only thing I regret doing when I registered, was the name....*sigh* Why? Why? Why? I can't understand why I registered as Novnarwen. Now I really want to change, but I'll just stick to this. What about Tom Bombadil's yellow boots? (I really want that nick..) Or Scary/Freaky Oliphant? (I want that one too..) Okey, enough about my whining... It's my own fault..*sigh* Hmmm... That was about it, for now.. I guess.. *Nova* |

Hello everybody.
I have never been to forum site before, and obviously this is my first time for this site, too. I'd like to get to know some of you, and I'd appreciate help, if anyone can give me some tips. Oh well, for now I'll stay clueless. |

Greetings! I am a Tolkien fan from WAYYYYYYYY back. I hope I can make a good impression on all you Downers... I know how hard that can be! A few of my interests are reading Tolkien, reading more Tolkien, writing, playing sports and smoking the pipe weed.

Oh, I feel loved now!!!
In our history (not only Middle-earth) we have barrows for our dead kings. The history (ME this time) of the Barrowdowns is a whole civilization that fell long ages ago. Anyway, we (i.e. the members of the BD forums) are Newly Deceased for a few Posts, and then we start to gain rank. "Animated Skeleton" "Pile o'Bones" "Haunting Spirit" "Shade of Carn-Dum" and finally "Ghost Prince of Cardolan". If you have always posted intelligently and respectfully, not only do you contribute to the forums and do not waste space, you get to choose your own title. This is why you will see various people with titles such as "Fair and Cold" - Lush has that one. Post well. It is often helpful to read the Faq first and any announcement a mod puts up. Love and blessings to you all, ~ Elentari II

Hey all, I'm Aundario. I absolutely love the J.R.R. Tolkien books. Probably not as much as most here, but I still think they're brilliant. I'm currently reading the Two Towers (first time), and I'm in the part where Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli are about to enter Fangorn. Totally awesome!!! All of what I've read so far is much better than the movies. I hope I'll be able to get along with every one here.

Welcome to the Barrowdowns, Aundario!!
Remember to post well and be respectful. You may like to try out some Role Playing Games, beginning in the Green Dragon in the Shire, or you may like to join our friendly debates about various things in either the Movies or Books forums. Middle-earth Mirth is also a great place; you may find and contribute to some hilarious threads. But most of all, remember to enjoy the Barrowdowns. Faqs etc. are always helpful; it's a good idea to read those. If you need any help, feel free to ask me. Cheers, ~ Elentari II

Welcome Temril!
For RPGing, start in The Shire forum. Also, the Novices and Newcomers forum is an ideal place for you to start your experience on this board. Using the 'search' function can help you find things specifically about Rohan, or any other subject you so desire. One tip: make sure you read the rules and FAQ in each forum. Make sure you are polite, on topic, and contribute well to the discussion whenever you post, and you'll do just fine here. If you have any further questions, feel free to PM me or any other member here. We'd be happy to help! Peace

Hello and welcome to the Barrow Downs, Temril.
If you are interested in gaming, please check out the forum called The Shire, where people new to the Downs learn about gaming here. Introduce your character at The Green Dragon Inn and get to know the mods there, piosennial and Child of the Seventh Age. New Shire games are often advertised there. You can also check out the discussion threads for games there to see how to apply to join a Shire game. Have fun! Bęthberry Moderator for Rohan

Welcome to the Downs! That frequently asked question is answered, among others, on the Forum FAQ thread, at the top of this forum's main page. For more information, you can also read the Forum Policies thread. Hope you enjoy yourself here!

Hi all and welcome. What has been stated before is to be respectfull of other and to be cool to the mods( they count as people too). Give the mods what they want and things will be fine. Also in the RPG rooms follow the rules! read the Red Book or what ever they have for rules before you try to join in so you can save Poi and the other shire mods frustration.
yes have fun, we are all dead here.
