Thanks, elven maiden, and sorry for the delay folks, but I've been away.
The next Topic is ... Orcs. And an easy one to start with. 1. Which unfortunate Orc was ensnared by Shelob and no doubt ended up providing her with a tasty morsel?

Nothing wrong with being knowledgable about Orcs. Best to know your enemy. Evisse the Blue - 2 OK, next question ... 3. To what is attributed the ferocity and determination of the Orcs' assault on Isildur and his Men at Gladden Fields?

Spot on, Evisse. They are said (in a footnote to the Disaster of the Gladden Fields) to have been unconsciously spurred on (in part, at least) by the Ring's desire to return to its Lord.
Evisse the Blue - 3 4. Which Orc is referred to as having "wide and snuffling nostrils"?

The tracker-Orc, that argued with another fighting-Orc and eventually killed him. The two nearly stumbled across Frodo and Sam, hiding from them in the Morannon.

A passage in The Battles of the Fords of Isen in UT says of the Dunlendings that they were not well armed; a footnote (no. 11) then says:

You are correct, Turambar. They made their own armour. The footnote which you have quoted was the reference that I had in mind. Well done.
Evisse the Blue - 3 Gwaihir the Windlord - 1 Turambar - 2 7. How is it that Pippin could understand the discussions of his Orcish captors?
