The "Hither Shores" is used to refer to a more specific area of Middle Earth ...

As in the song of Earendil, the "Hither Shores" is referring to all of ME. Maybe specifically that where mortals are, but that could be said to be anywhere. It's used once in the tale of Numenor, but with more bearing placed on the actualy meaning of the word "hither" than anything else.
Ah, I bet you do mean specifically where mortals were don't you? |

Nevrast means Hither Shores. So I am looking for the location of Nevrast for the final part of the answer.

Wait wait, Nevrast is the "hither shore". That means something totally different from the "Hither Shores". The Hither shores is a term referring to all of ME, but specifically where men inhabit.

Hmm, having checked the index to my copy of the Silmarillion, I see that you are right, Beren. Just goes to show that you can't always rely on the ol' Complete Tolkien Companion. First time it's let me down, though.
But, Earwen gave both answers that I was looking for, so it's your turn next, O elf maid.

Anyway, red-hill-land... I will venture a guess: caran- red dol- hill Cardolan- red-hill-land? Sophia
