Nur, you got it, it's a dream. Well done, ask away.
Susan, is the answer to yours a match?

Here's one too, but it won't fool many of you:
Quote:

"'Hold it up!' said Gandalf. 'And look closely.' As Frodo did so, he now saw fine lines, finer than the finest pen-strokes, running along the ring, outside and inside: lines of fire that seemed to form the letters of a flowing script. They shone piercingly bright, and yet remote, as if out of a great depth. 'I cannot read the fiery letters,' said Frodo in a quavering voice. 'No,' said Gandalf, 'but I can. The letters are Elvish, of an ancient mode, but the language is that of Mordor, which I will not utter here. But this in the Common Tongue is what is said, close enough: One Ring to Bring them all and in the darkness bind them.'" |

Belegfanaion, is yours a book?
Thanks, Maril! I really need to think up a riddle of my own instead of guessing everyone elses...

Well, I came across this when I was reading tonight. This is NOT mine, and strictly speaking it's not a riddle, but some of you might be able to guess what the answer is...
"They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see; they have ears, but cannot hear, noses, but they cannot smell; they have hands, but cannot feel, feet, but they cannot walk; nor can they utter a sound with their throats. Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them." I will post the answer soon if no one guesses it, because it's really not mine and may be considered a trick because some of you might think it's similar to my "Shoes" riddle earlier...

No, it's not a teddy bear. In a manner of speaking it IS a statue; but in context...This really wasn't a fair riddle; I'll post the answer this evening (EST). Y'all are such good sports! My hat is off to you! *bows*

Here's another that I wrote
I have two parts, a body and a hat, Right now there is a third part, imagine that I sit on fire hissing like a cat, The third bubbles, the fire dies, The hissing stops, and I am satisfied.

Another simple one from Samwise:
I have a head, but no brain generally, I have a smile on my face, but it dosen't necesarily mean that I'm happy. I can have arms, but they are useless With the rising of the sun, my life can end. Quote:

Nuranar, I was going to guess an idol but Susan beat me to it. How about a mummy?
Samwise, is yours a snowman? How about this one? It's pretty basic. Too much of me will kill As will too little of me In summer I am prayed for But cursed if too oft I come. What am I?

Susan and Kalimac, you are both correct: It is an idol. Here is the quote in its entirety:

You got it, Nuranar . Yours was really good [Kalimac smacks self on head] should have recognized that from the Psalms, eh? Actually the only Biblical phrase that came to mind on reading that was "Why do the Heathen rage?" but it was close enough, I guess. Susan, you're up for a riddle .

I believe that Kalimaks is is Rain or Water, Sarah's last one is a teakettle, and Nurambar is correct on mine, it's a book. (EZ One, eh?)

Looking back over the list, I noticed two that were never answered (unless I just missed them ) I looked back through the thread, but couldn't find them to see if I had, in fact, missed the answers (I remember Stephanos and Samwise being the posters, respectively, but I could be wrong) Anyhoo, here they are. If they were answered, let me know, and if not, we have two more to guess (again) at if the posters are still watching this thread.
