Nope, still not what I'm looking for. The first line is a near direct (slightly adapted) quote from the source, and the second line hints at the word itself.

Sorry. Not been on much in the last few days.
It's the Oath-breakers. When doom approaches the halls of silent kings: This presumably refers to Aragorn fulfilling the prophecy of Malbeth the Seer and entering the Paths of the Dead to hold the Dead Kings to their oath. The great waves follow the promised words of old: Breakers (great waves) following oath (promised words of old).

The unwary are my prey. Beside the sleepless waters, under the shadows of old mountains, Those I find are unremembered and their children love the darkness.

After long and thoughtful consideration, I've decided to accept this. All theories of orc origin aside, there was certainly an unknown hunter that stalked the Quendi at Cuivienen. I don't know that it was necessarily Melkor, but you got the idea, Lasgalen. The floor is yours.

This is terribly easy, but I'm attempting to make about four riddles at the moment, so it's the best I can do.
We are roughened, followed by a breath, moved by the last of the music, where forever it echoes.

No. When working out a riddle, or clue of this type, it helps you to show how you came to that answer, cause then I could say: "No, your answer's wrong, but here's what you're right about." It helps me to know too, if people are getting close, so I can give better hints if nobody guesses.

Yes, that is it Finwe, but so disappointing that you didn't use my clues, I was so proud of them.
We are roughened = Coarse (which sounds like Cors) followed by a breath = air (Corsair) Moved by the last of the music (of the Ainur) Where forever it echoes = in water, which moves ships. Carry on, Finwe. Sophia

Lasgalen, when answering riddles such as this, you should give an explanation of how you arrived at the answer. This prevents "lucky guesses" and it is also interesting for those of us who may have puzzled over the riddle to see how it works. (It also gives the "riddler" a sense of satisfaction. )
So, please elaborate ...
