When you were convinced up until a very short time ago that the Bay of Belfalas really existed. I wrote it down on a geography quiz and my teacher put many question marks by it.

You're obsessed when your history teacher says you can write a journal about anything you want and you write about Hobbits being drunken frat boys and elves being tree huggers

Lol! When you went into Wendy's today, you saw a kid that looked exactly like a tallish hobbit! He had curly dark hair, and his ears stuck out. But he was wearing shoes... so not too sure about that.

Ok, I've been collecting these from the past few days so here we go . . . . . .
1. When planting flowers in your garden, you sit and stare at the little lable stick for ten minutes because it has the word "Elfin" on it. 2. When watching a movie in Drama class, you look at the one actor and remark: "Hey that guy looks like Peter Jackson!" - everyone laughs. 3. When in math class, you hear music floating through the door and remark: "Hey that's Lord of the Ring's Music, the second film, when Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli are chasing the orcs. Once again everybody laughs 4. When driving along the road you see a plastic elephant as an advertisement for this one shop - you exclaim "Mumakil!!!" There's more, but I can't remember them. I'm sure I will . . . sometime . . .

The song Concerning Hobbits is your driving music and you end up driving only about 20 mph
You call your friend whose name is Natalie Natagorn daughter of Johnagorn and in return she calls you Katamir daughter of Mikethor. (kinda sad and strange isn't it?)

You are obessessed when ...
You are talking about LOTR to a friend and she has to remind you it isn't real. You see therre is this girl at school who thinks she is a ringwraith incarnate... So me and my friend were saying how stupid it was and I was saying that first of all wraiths can't reproduce and they are like ghosts!!!!!! Then my friend added and they aren't real but that sentence took 5 minutes to be processed by my brain. LOTR is just like another reality to me now!

I had my last day of school today and was planning on spending the day in the Drama classroom - the best class in the world. Anyway, when I got there, what do I find but the plan was to watch ROTK!!!!!!!!!!!
I started jumping up and down and squealing. I was also constantly yelling at people to be quiet because THEY WHERE SPEAKING DURING ROTK!!!!! Anywhoo, great day, awsome movie.

you know ur obsessed when.......
you spend 11 and a half hours watching the entire trilogy
you spend 11 and a half hours watching the entire trilogy with actor commentary you carve your own "gandalf" staff from a stick in your back yard you make up new charactors to put in middle earth you say you just "like" LOTR just to relieze as you say that your petting your book you count how many times you see each movie in theatre whenever a question arises about LOTR you always answer even if your not included in the conversation. LOTr is merely mentioned and you recite nearly every line from the movie

after you finish your final you take out your Lotr book and sketch some of the characters.
edit: I thought of more I was at my sister's graduation and three people each had a sign with a letter: "f" "a" and "r" and my first thought was "I wonder if someones name is Faramir." Then we were driving home and my sister commented on the trees in the area looking like they are reaching out at cars and I replied "they are probably Ents."

*You see "Prisoner of Azkaban" and you start linking it to LOTR. Loudly. In the theatre.
"Dementors?!? So THAT'S what happened to the Nasgul after the fall of Sauron!" "Boy, that willow tree is pretty angry. Where's Tom Bombadil when you need him?" "Hey, Sirius kinda looks like Boromir when the light hits him a certain way and his head is tilted like that and you take off your glasses and kind of squint!" "Look, a warg!" "Wizard school! Great! What's Gandalf teaching this term?" *You've named the Balrog. (I call him Reggie!!) *You see movies with LOTR actors and you call them by their LOTR names. EX- Hey, TROY's got Legolas and Boromir in it! XMen has Gandalf as an evildoer! Frodo is the Artful Dodger in Oliver Twist! Look, it's Arwenageddon! That last one might make a good movie, actually... ~Maeg

Hm...
When you write something along the lines of this: "That really depends what forest its in. If its in Fangorn its most likely to move because of an orc hacking at it with an axe, but if its in Lothlorien it would be because of the elves singing to it" On an AS Level biology practice paper to the question: "Explain, in detail, why and how plants can move and change their shape to fit their environment." Oh dear...I realised what I'd done just after he'd collected my paper, and he read it out...I'm never going to live that down... |

- When somebody asks you what you're doing, you look around, pull a face, and say, in a croaky voice...
"sneaking." - When you're in the bug house in a zoo, see a tarantuala, and start thinking that you have the light of Earendil. And saying the charm... - When you start thinking that you're branch for the biology project looks like a mini Ent. - When you accept a half-dead spider plant from another biology project, wondering if singing to it will bring it back to life. - When you're friends get so fed up of your obsession, they 'borrow' your Lotr pencil tin, and threaten to search your room for other Lotr stuff. They'd need a truck just for the posters in my room...

Oh my Maeggaladiel !!!
I don't think the Harry Potter fans liked that too much. you probably had to run out of the theatre and hide when the movie was finished. Though I must admit I was actually thinking of LOTR as well when I watched the movie. Luckily I was able to keep it to myself. For example I thought Gandalf was a worthier wizard than the new Dumbledore. (Why did the other guy have to die ) They even considered Ian Mckellen playing the new Dumbledore but then he would have been to Gandalfy especially for us LOTR fans. We would pick out the differences immediatly. But I'm rambling now so I guess I should stop.

Back on the Harry Potter subject you know you're obsessed with LotR when you actually start to have a serious argument with a Potter fanatic over how much copying Rowling did of Tolkiens work.
I watched the film with my friends boyfriend and spent the whole thing pointing out all the copies (demetors - balck riders, whomping willow - ents, and so on) until he finally threatened to gag me if I didnt let him watch the film. Of course the second we got outside I was back onto it again, and he hasnt talked to me since! So if you really want to annoy one of these Potter people just do that!

During the whole scene with Harry and Lupin in the woods (the third movie), you can't stop thinking Daniel looks just like a younger Elijah, and yes the Nazgul-dementor thing is rather annoying. Personally, I think Harry Potter is okay, but I LOVE LOTR, so don't worry. I am a life-long LOTR nut!!

When watching Harry Potter with ten of your friends (no, not joking, we took up a whole row), you and the two other LotR fans (convieniently placed next to you) whisper about the correlations between the two. And when the Dementors come on the screen, you yell: "But there are only supposed to be nine!"
You need a hat. You buy a plain, tan baseball hat. Then you write "Frodo Lives!" on it. You get a new cat, name it Turin. It won't respond to any commands. So, as a joke, you talk to it in Elvish. It begins to obey, but still doesn't know any English.

-You argue with your brother for 15 minutes that Link in "Zelda" is not really an Elf and in addition to that, all Elves that aren't Quendi aren't real Elves.
-Your LotR book (as well as the Hobbit, the Sil, UT...) never leaves your computer desk except to read them as a referance while you are on the computer. |

Talking about falling apart books...
My mom has a copy of LOTR, all the books into one,it has been read by me, my mom and my brother although I read that version several times and I am amazed that it hasn't fallen apart yet. However the spine is very cracked you can't even read the title:The Lord of the Rings anymore. I confess I was also reminded of the black riders when I saw the dementors.

Of books falling apart my dad owns a 50th anniversarry book of The Hobbit and even though it's a hardcover there's a huge break in the middle of the book where the binding is exposed and the poor old book looks like it's on its last legs.

This weekend, while visiting Gettysburg - I was reading the name Luthern Seminary and saw the name Luthien instead.
Also, this one Street is called LOHR street and I saw, of course LOTR. When listening to the song "American Pie" I began thinking about how, at the end, when "the father, son, and holy ghost, they took the last train for the coast" it is remarkebly similar to Galadriel, Elrond and Gandalf leaving for the Blessed Realm. I had a dream that I was touring the battlefield at Gettysburg, and part of the tour was the Dead Marshes. Who knew Gettysburg was condusive to LOTR memories??

Whe you are listening to commentary on a CFL game (Canadian football league) because your brother is watching the game and you hear The Hobbits...
Sadly I couldn't catch what the commentator had truely said.

You watch an incredibly boring Celebrity Poker match just because Sean Astin was on and Matthew Perry kept making Lord of the Rings references. I now know more about poker than I ever cared to.
