I assign Britain. The feeling of riding on the trains. Looking out your window and seeing the beautiful green and brilliantly yellow hills, passing gorgeous brick houses and green leafy trees. Riding through picturesque village and smoggy city. It's all beautiful in its own way.
The feeling of pure bliss of a long anticipated holiday, even though you know it will end, and the longed for return. And taking trains with your friends. That is always fun! Oh, and did I mention having tea?

The Shire makes me think of the Merry England myth, no doubt it has some influence on Tolkien.

So... you just assigned the Shire to the Shire?

Haha. *Is Anglophile* Should I go send things in to the tourist board? It really takes someone who truly loves a place to write about it with conviction; or a really good liar.

Getting off of work earlier than you expected assuredly goes to the Shire. Although I was looking forward to watching certain movies while waiting for my mom to finish so we could go home...*insert innocent puppy eyes*
To clarify: I work as kitchen help at a retreat center/summer camp. My mom just started as kitchen manager. I was supposed to get off at 3 o'clock this afternoon while Mommy worked until dinner was over. I just happened to have the FotR and TTT ExEd with me so I wouldn't get bored waiting. Turns out Mommy didn't need to stay until after dinner and we both left at 3.

My mama.
Because no matter how old I get, when I'm sick or hurt, I want my mom. But mostly because I know she would love the gardening she'd get to do there, and she works too hard to ever have time to just play in her flowers. And she deserves it.

I would assign anyone to the Shire who can translate this for me in Quenya:
And that I said my limbs were old; And that I said my blood was cold, And that my kindly fire was fled, And that my withered heart was dead, And that I might not sing of love? - How could I to the dearest theme That ever warmed a minstrel's dream, So foul, so false, a recreant prove! How could I name my love's very name, Nor wake my harp to notes of flame! Could someone please translate that for me? I would be very, very grateful. Cheers!

Darvocet. Because it's the only thing that kept me from passing out this evening. For that, it should have some lovely cakes too.
Also, Nerwen is assigned to the Shire for ruffling up the Werewolf glossary over in Mirth. Well, for other reasons too, of course, but that one comes to mind.

That bitter-sweet feeling one has after finishing a great book. On the one hand, you're sad that it is over and wish that it could have lasted longer, on the other hand, you cannot deny the sense of fulfiment after you have read it. I also wish to assign an extremely underrated - to my knowledge at least - writer of historical fiction named Rosemary Sutcliff. There is something in her style and ideas that reminds me of the spirit of Tolkien's books and I think that she would truly deserve a place in the Shire along with more appreciation.

Never heard of her. . .
I always felt weird about Historical fiction and even Counterfactual History, even though it is intriguing, I always fear that some of the fictional part will remain in my brain and with time mistaken for historical facts. |

I felt a bit like that but I did read Wolf Hall and much to my suprise really enjoyed it... seemingly my struggle with Tudor and Stuart History at A-Level has worn off a bit after about 20 years...

For auld lang syne
I assign Heren and Fordim posting on the same thread within 12 hours. A little glimpse of old times which made me ridiculously and disproportionately happy even after a joyful day (sharing the world's delight at the liberation of 33 latter day sons of Aule from the ground and on a personal level a significant improvement in my father' health )

Could also second the assignation of H-I and Fordim's posting and the rescue of the Chliean miners... As for myself, I'd like to assign re-finding my passion for writing and finding delight in my quite tedious work.

It may be temporary in fact it probably is since there is no cure for his underlying condition - or anno domini - but every good day is a bonus - and at the beginning of the week I thought we had lost him in mind if not body. So it looks like I get the old buzzard back for a bit and that it was mainly ill not old this time.

Rather than assigning my sprained ankle and scalp laceration to Mordor, I decided to assign them to the Shire for not being a broken ankle or requiring stitches.

I was in a hurry and tried to jump down the last few stairs in my house. I wasn't far enough down the steps and hit my head on the overhang, coming to rest at the foot of the staircase.

A morning when you wake up nice and early without the help of an alarm clock and you are not sleepy and the weather is beautiful.

I assign the fact that I survived, unscathed, a rather nasty car crash. The passenger side (where I was sitting) indented over two feet. I went briefly into shock (can't breathe, curl up into a ball, all that fun stuff), got glass in my hair, and am pretty sore right now, but otherwise, I'm fine.

I assign horses. (Someone said ponies, so I'll assign their larger counterparts) Because they are magnificent creatures, imo.
I also assign pumpkin pie. Because I freaking LOVE that stuff! Glad you're okay Loslote. Car accidents indeed can be quite the experience and take its toll on the people involved.

I assign a big mug of hot chocolate after a good snowball fight.

I assign regular chocolate (as opposed to hot chocolate). I just love it! Once I start eating, I can't stop until I've emptied the house of all chocolate food. The funny thing about it is that no matter how much of it I eat, I never get full

Ewww I hate hot chocolate. I always end up burning my tongue. Dark chocolate all the way. Preferably filled with cherry sauce or peanut butter
