Asking a question from the first page, Why do people call a full stop a period? I never call it a period, and now im thinking people are dashing off to the loo!!!

Lucinda,
Americans call a full stop a period. Just regional differences. Part of what makes our language so colourful. And confusing. Peace

just felt like commenting on that. If you want an explanation you can PM me. This is such a fun topic. I can be picky here. It bugs me so bad when people spell things wrong. ok, I spell badly when I'm typing, but at least I fix it.

I have seen THIS one in TONS of fics:
"Elvin" I THINK the author meant Elven. Duh! I also saw on a parody on Amiright.com: "This whorl orc sh*t" I didn't know Orcs had fingerprints! Also, Some weird person on some weird site put THIS: námaríe. The person obviously meant to put Namarié, but has put the accents in ALL the wrong places!! Gah! Namarié! (For real!) From Elróthiel, the Elven Goddess of Hilariosity and Laughter!

Honnits tend to have very thin, black legs, while sporting a nice pair of bee-wings on their backs. Hoobits tend to wear shoes. Mostly boots. Hobbbits tend to hold their consonants for a longer time than the others, and are almost indistinguishable from hobbits. If you should perchance be talking to a hobbbit, run away quickly, for any sign of laughter on your part will be challenged as a mickey taking of the speech of this unusual creature! Namarié! From Elróthiel, the Elven Goddess of Hilariosity and Laughter!
