Point taken, Legalos. Sorry Bethberry: that post has now been edited to give your name the full dignity of a proper noun.

Ah, Legalos, this thread has been turned into a joke. No one is intruding on the Administration's role in handling the site. In fact, the thread has become simply a bit of sport in support of the Administration.
And Squatter, you are a scholar and a gentleman. In your debt, sir. *curtsies* Bethberry

Apologies to anyone offended...not intended as a slam of any sort. More of a general response to the original topic, not to the jocular, subsequent conversation.

We have somewhat digressed, eh? Oh well. Bound to happen, I suppose.
For once and for all, I want to clear up my opinion on a swoon forum. I do not believe that we should have one. I do think that fangirls can become thoughtful participants in serious discussions if they discover that Legolust is not an acceptable condition here. By creating a swoon forum, we would be legitimizing such banal discussion.

Legolas? I thought we were swooning over the Balrog. I just love his eyeliner.

Ah, the Balrog...
And how 'bout that Sauron! Something about his big, fiery eyes...

Indeed. When I saw the "Balrog's" eyeliner, I jumped out of my seat and started licking the screen. Needless to say, I was escorted out of the theater very soon after. My name is Lush, and I have a problem.

Lush, I had a similar problem when I insisted on "Rocky-Horrorizing" the show with my best friend. We kept adding "Mr. Anderson" after all of Elrond's lines, etc. Silly movie theater staff.

I would have thought that appending "Mr. Underhill" wherever Elrond addressed Frodo would be more appropriate. It even has the same rhythm.

That does sound pretty gross, Squatter. But the Balrog's steaming hottiness prevails over bacteria any day.
And next time I'll say Mr. Underhill. I promise.

So, Elenna, any movie theater that wants to sterilize their screens need only air The Fellowship Of The Ring-- once will do.
We could work this angle. "Gee, this is a big theater; twelve screens? When were they last sterilized? Mmmm-hmmm. Definitely time to rerun LOTR and avoid a call from the Board of Health."

You better believe it! One screening every day, and they'll have the cleanest screens in the world!
If only we could do that with the floors...

Before you get too carried away, though, I should point out that there are many cinemas, but only one Lush.
Besides, wouldn't you need step-ladders near the screen to get the top done?

Squatter, Squatter, it's the stupendous heat given off by that hunky, eyeliner-wearing BALROG that sterilizes the screen.
Lush is a powerful woman, but sterilization is not something I associate with her, generally speaking.

Squatter - I hope your new avatar isn't suggesting that the Downs is being sunk by an massive ice floe of "fangirls".

Other things have been known to sink on contact with ice, however. No, Birdie; it was that moustache that prompted me to use Sir Cosmo as my avatar, not his unfortunate Atlantic experiences. I should like to say, though, that he was one of the survivors.
Personally I think that our problem is more likely to be the looming mass of The Two Towers, which some sharp-eyed lookouts are even now announcing to the Officer of the Watch. [EDIT: The avatar reference is to an old black-and-white photograph of Sir Cosmo Edmund Duff-Gordon, fifth baronet, which used to be on Encyclopaedia Titanica. I'd had no avatar before that, hence the interest.]

Squatter are you saying that FOTR was nothing but the "Titanic Overture" for TTT?

I fear that the last film was a mere New York incident in comparison with what is to come, yes.

*Threatening music starts to play...*
Well, I'm actually not sure that TTT will cause a huge population explosion. After all, most of the audience will be made up of those who have already seen FOTR. I doubt the increase will be as much as the FOTR one (of which I must admit, I was a part.)

And ROTK will be the Mont Blanc incident (the December 6 1917 explosion in Halifax harbour) Squatter? One could refer to the movies' self-destructive urges, couldn't one?

I am not a fan girl, but Orlando, for your information does not smoke.
Most of the fan girls will be gone soon, many of the ones I see have not been back here very much. and on another note, this is a really crazy thread, I didn't even know what you were all really talking about half the time, I guess I still am kind of new and it seems that most of the people who have posted here have been at the BD for a long time, maybe in awhile I can hopefully take part in a discussion like this. I really don't think this site has a big a fangirl problem as other forums.

Just as a note: the fangirl issues seem to rise with the coming of each new movie. It will die down almost to complete death until Return of the King comes out, then they will all return, crying their little eyes out about the fact that their Sam is married off and that they can't marry Frodo.
Okay: I will be crying too, but not about those things. I'll just be crying like I've cried for the first two movies... But then, the movies will be over and the teenies will disappear again, and we'll be left to our peace and quiet. *Sigh* Thank goodness for that...

Hey not all the people who have come to this forum because of the films are fangirls. I am defently not a fangirl, but I would have never known about Tolkien this much if I had not seen FOTR. Though you just don't like the people who have not done as much reasearch as me, and the people who have not read the books.

Couldn't we just start a thread for fangirls? It would be better. Then they could stop annoying others, though it would be the worst thread ever. (In my opinion.)
