ohhh I didnt know he had died just yet? I mean he hasn't returned, and the world hasn't ended ... if it is the Dagor Dagorath prophesy you are refering to? In which case the prophesy tells us that Turin is his banesman killing him with his black sword.
Otherwise there are the cases where his i overcome by the Valar or wounded but Fingolfin and Thorondor.

Oh Windlord!
I'm anxious to hear the answer. I would say Turin, as Telchar did, but I wonder if that's what you emean. |

Turin will do, although that's uncertain ground. But the other answer was Namo, Mandos, who in Morgoth's Ring (apparently ) slays Morgoth after his being brought to Valinor; it is thus his bodyless spirit that is locked outside Arda. Go ahead Telchar.

Killed in the attack on the people at the Mouth of Sirion. Umbarto = Amrod, son of Fëanor.

Yeah, but thats not what Im looking for...
Umbarto had a different end than the later caracter of Amrod.

This is a stickler..
I found a reference to Amrod's mother, Ambarussa, as Umbarto. Is that it? |

Actually using Ambarussa would have been a little too tricky even for me as that name was used for both Amrod and Amras (at the same time) I could however have used Ambarto as well as Umbarto as both names were used for amrod at the same time, and the time I was referring to. At the stage of development in JRR Tolkiens writings where the name U/Ambarto (meaning the fated) was used, the way Amrods life ended was different from that of the later history - its that ending Im looking for. Hope that clears it up.

Hmm..confusing, at first.
Well then when Feanor burned the stolen ships at Losgar, he assembled his sons on the shore and only six of them. Ambarussa told him that Ambarto had slept on his ship. Feanor realised that that ship he had burned first and they speak of how Umbarto is a fitting name. Then, an end note says that Ambarussa's name became Amros in Sindarin (not Amrod, as recorded in The Silmarillion). So..wherever The Silmarillion speaks of Amrod and Amras after the burning at Losgar, then one has to realise that only Amros was present. So.. he was burned to death by Feanor? |
