Indeed, out of place or not, the Empress is correct. Sting's Gondolinian name was Orcrist, the Goblin-cleaver. And this took much longer than I expected; it was an easy question, and, in fact, its answer can be found the the same place Lady Elbereth found Glamdring. They are both named in the same sentence.

Wait, I thought Orcrist was Thorin's Sword's name.

Well, I don't have my book with me, so I concede being wrong. Take it, Lady Elbereth

No, don't worry. I'm no stalker! I just wanted to reply to the newest posts, and since I have no life... well... anyway,
In what year was Dale destroyed? (I'm not sure if there is a reference to this. I don't have the book with me right now. )

Actually it says in Appendix B of LOTR, that Dale was destroyed in the year 2770 TA by Smaug. Close enough. Go ahead.

Bah, you shouldn't have given me that. lol, oh well.
And this is The Hobbit trivia, so looking in LotR was kind of cheating. No harm though. Who once wore Glamdring? (before Gandalf in other words) [ October 25, 2002: Message edited by: Beren87 ] |

Stand tall my dear, stand tall...
LadyElbereth, that you are correct. Though in The Hobbit it says only "the king of Gondolin." by Elrond. |

Yeah, I realize that in The Hobbit it only said "the King of Gondolin", but I wanted to know who the King of Gondolin was so I kinda looked that part up...(I DIDN'T CHEAT..HONEST! )
Anyway, my question: What color was the arrow that killed Smaug? (ok, easy question, but I couldn't think of anything else)

"The greatest and most prized possession in the hoard of the Dwarf-kings of Erebor, lost to their House when the dragon Smaug pillaged the Lonely Mountain (2770 Third Age).
"The Arkenstone was a great white gem of brilliant translucency, mined from 'The-Heart-of-the-Mountain' - as the jewel was itself afterwards called by the Dwarves of Durin's House. Unexpectedly recovered from the Dragon by the Hobbit Bilbo Baggins in the year 2941, it was later used by him in an attempt to secure peace between Dwarves, Men and Elves before the Battle of Five Armies. it was afterwards laid to rest with Thorin Oakenshield, who was mortally wounded in that battle." Yes. Isn't that what he's called in The Hobbit? I thought that Elrond was always called Elrond, but King Thranduil was called the Elven-king.
And, yes, you are right.

An auction and some very suprised hobbits! Most of his things had been sold and the Sackville-Bagginses were measuring his rooms to see if their furniture would fit.
