and that's all.

Lady D has returned.
So I'll play Himelilek just until Manelwen returns.

Let it go, Cim. I said he could play Himelilek until Manelwen returns. If you want her to play her own character so badly, reach out into the depths of cyberspace and drag her back here instead of just complaining about her not being here. That would make everyone happy.

I will play Himelilek's part until Manelwen returns. She and I have often discussed character development and we often think alike in certains aspects, especially when portraying negative and troubled characters.
No offense to Kettle, but he can create a new character. In RPG that's not a problem.

That's very forward. Don't you think you should ask the owner of the game before making a decision of this sort?

Actually, I am a lab mouse on stilts. Quote:

Frightening.
Have I not known you long enough to know when you're being facetious? It was the way you kept mentioning it...but you got your title. Happy now? Noo, what do you mean, there's a typo? You think by "fool's" I'm referring to a specific character, but I'm not. The possesive refers to the title itself. It's your title, "Fool's Errand", so it turns into "Belin's Fool's Errand", not "Belin's Fools Errand". Oh. Crap. Why are you always right? grrr Dineniel was not kidnapped. What are you talking about, Chartism? [ September 14, 2002: Message edited by: Susan Delgado ]

Well, Cim seemed a little confused (about my facetiousness, silly).
Facetious again! You'll notice that I spell it "Fool's Errand" myself... I just wasn't sure about the "Belin's." And as for the typo..actually, I was referring to "Bkue". Forgive me for mentioning it, but it's been bothering me for days...... Well, impressed then. Close enough. --Belin Ibaimendi, breathing a sigh of relief for the change of the spelling. Hey Sol, who are you bossing around?
The title does matter... people do judge books by their cover. I wouldn't bother about RPGs that are titled "roaming around rivendell," or "lounging in lothlorien," An interesting name draws people to the RPG. And you should talk about posting everyday, all hidden on the tree, just wait till you come down... Oz has got a nice switch handy for you. Lab mice on stilts? Moulin Rouge references?
Argintines??!?? This just became very twilight zone. Is the lab mice on stilts thing kind of their way of stealthily infiltrating the 'cheese cubes on toothpicks' club - sort of the wolf in sheepskin thing? No one here (except possibly Cim) watches Pinky and The Brain? Criminal...
Of course the title matters. An interesting title draws people in to see what the game is about and, Sol, your own intro post said you came here because the title was interesting, and in any case, the discussion about it is over. I'm not changing it more and your complaint is too late. And as for posting, well, you could have done it. Oh, don't mind us, Cim. Belin and I have known each other for some time and we have certain inside jokes that are very hard to explain to others. <shrug> Oh, KoF, please explain "Cheese Cubes on Toothpicks Club" [ September 15, 2002: Message edited by: Susan Delgado ]

Mice on stilts. Cheese cubes on toothpicks.
I'm sure we are all aware that sometimes at gatherings, people have plates of nibblies. Often consisting of cheese cubes or tiny bits of sausage - on toothpicks - ala easy to pick up and no sticky fingers. So look at it from the mouse's point of view. It goes near the cheese, and the cheese cubes start panicing. The cheese cubes probably have sentries or scouts or something to warn of mouse sightings so that the rest of the cheese can scatter and hide. But, aha! Cheese is not very intelligent. So the mouse only has to trick the cheese cubes just enough so that it can get close enough. And it infiltrates the cheese cube community by somehow tricking the cheese cubes that it is one of them. *drum roll* So it goes on stilts - to mimic the toothpick effect (ok, so it needs at least two stilts - but look at it from a side view. Plus - even with multiple stilts/toothpicks it could just be a mutant cheese on pick.) Voila!! Cheese on stick costume. Ok - I blame this on Belin. He started with the lab mouse on stilts image. So naturally I had to figure out why they were on stilts...

Hahahahaha! That's FANTASTIC!
Kettle of fish--I'm quite pleased to take the blame for such an entertaining story! As far as the Argentine joke, it is indeed a "Moulin Rouge" reference, as correctly identified by Ket (or Kof, don't know which you prefer).. a cookie for the kettle! Ahem.. now that we've gotten thoroughly off topic... would you like to post a description of the character who will join us in Neniant? We'll probably be there soon; it isn't that far away. Arrrgggh - so sorry Belin.
*note to self. Belin is a she.* Here we go. Name: Doesn't have one. However, several outraged merchants and shopowners have often waved their fists at him as he skipped quickly away and called him 'You dirty street urchin' (Please note, the word 'dirty' has often been substituted for other words). Age: Around eight or so - age is not an issue on the streets - only size, stealth and charm. And of stealth and charm, this little fellow has plenty. Gen Description: Small, skinny, covered in a layer dirt. Unkempt floppy hair - unknown colour due to the dirt. Dressed in rags, no shoes. Small pouch on inside of clothes for treasures - these include the typical treasures of an eight year old boy - a few small coins, one foreign; a piece of glass smoothed by the sea, a perfectly spherical piece of amber, green string, piece of flint, a rusty fishing hook.

I can see ways this boy can be useful to Remdil & company...such creatures as he gather information quite well and easily. Can we call him "Yusurch"? Or simply, "Urchin"? Ah, let's wait and see.
*Note: no offense meant by designation "creature". It was simply a description.*

All right, I'll admit to being a little confused. Um... why are they brawling? Hm, those brigands, they're just riding along peacefully one moment and fighting the next......
I read Susan's original answer to Cimmerian's post, and I would like to say, first of all: Calm down, calm, calm, when I snap my fingers you will be very, very calm and rational, all of you. Second of all, um, I mean first , there seem to be some problems with disagreement of characterization. My own first reaction is to deal with such matters by imposing (or at least proposing) rules, such as: If a player strongly and sincerely feels that his or her character has been seriously misrepresented in a major way, he or she may request revision of the offending post. This rule would be only invoked at important times; for instance, if the use of the word "sweeting" makes my hair stand on end and I don't believe anybody would ever use it, ever, under any circumstances, I would NOT invoke this rule (did it exist) because this is a very minor thing. The current one seems to be a bigger deal and a possible candidate for the rule (which, of course, does not exist). Of course, approving or rejecting this rule or any other important course of action like that is up to Susan and it is not up to any of the rest of us. Ahem. Welcome back, Lady Death, and post whenever you're ready. --Belin Ibaimendi [ September 17, 2002: Message edited by: Belin ]

I do not know why they're brawling.
That sounds like an excellent idea, which we can implement immediately. Thank you, Belin. Cim, please feel free to inaugurate it. I changed the line you found objectionable, Belin. All you had to do was ask. Edit: Just to be very clear: what I object to is not the existance of the fight; that's just fine. What I onject to is the content of the fight. Strong male lead figures in a story always contradict each other and try to be better than the other one at all times, be it on the side of good or bad.
Thorondruin attacked Ozracles for leering at Livia, whom he wanted for himself. Oz fought back because his position in the group would be threatened if he allowed himself to get whipped. It's a guy thing, and it's prevalent in real life. Trust me. This is just role play. The same as acting. We play the part, the part doesn't play us. I am not Ozracles, Andoras or Azradreth... I merely play their parts for a while. If you're not pleased by the way your character has been interpreted, try to write around it and through it. Take it as a challenge to show off your creativity. Don't get all mopey about it, it's just a game.

To Cim, who, as always, wants to kill people: We have more pressing needs at the moment. A healer would be nice. I'm not saying Throndruin wouldn't like to find the horse thieves and get Oz's horse back, but he is obove all a practical man, and if they run off and leave Oz behind (since he wouldn't be able to fight), he'd bleed to death, and you wouldn't want that, would you?
