Hakon, you're smiling! I think your hair looks good like that. (But it looked nice before, too.)
And I agree that Valier looks also a bit like Liv Tyler.

You seem like such a serious person, Hakon. You are smiling! That's lovely.

Add me to list of people that thinks Valier looks like Liv Tyler.
That picture is one of about 30 pictures. I am not joking, I really took about that many. The one I posted here looked the most real out of all the fake smiles. TGEW, I am a very serious person. One of the reasons people don't like me is I am too serious for them and don't laugh at their jokes.

Well, not exactly a mobster, but that smile does have a slightly sinister quality.
And sorry, but saying that Valier looks like Liv Tyler is less than flattering (to Valier, I mean - judging from the photos, she's got a much more interesting face, whereas Liv is just dishy and that's it.)

Someone once told me I look the villain from a comic book when I smile.

Time to update my picture, I think. The current one is about five or six years old now. Volo, I'd be grateful if you would replace it with the pic attached below when you get the chance. Thanks.
It's been a while since I had a look at the photo gallery. Alatar, your tribe seems to increase in size each time I look. And what's happened to you Boro? Is that you in a llama suit or have you changed into someone different? Oh, and is it me, or is Glirdan Sylar off Heroes?

He will love you forever when he finds out you think that. Never thought of it before, but now that you mention it I do see it a bit a little bit, and it shows even more so in person then that picture. Won't ever see my best friend in the same way again.

It certainly looks too warm to be the UK and recent. The architecture looks a bit furrin too but my eyesight isn't good enough now to be certain.

But last year, we spent a delightful two weeks staying in a villa in Minorca. The photo is from a boat trip which we took around Mahon harbour.

How public spirited of you.... and since you have school age children I assume it wasn't the insanely hot Wimbledon fortnight which was about the only time we actually saw the sun.......
I spent my student summers working in the local Tourist Office ... fortunately we did actually have summers then since the "Places for Rainy days list" was a bit short....

Why not?
Been awhile since I've been able to be involved much but why not at least post a semi-updated picture, right?
Only now I typically rock a 1-2 inch beard most of the time so that actually adds another few years to the look, but you get the idea... Cheers, Estel P.S. Thanks Hookbill for the quick help |

I don't think they update the main thread site anymore... well at least not since sometime in 2008.

The Only Real Estel is hot, ya'll. (Leave it to me to be classy about it, of course) For those of you who are, for some reason, not friends with me on Facebook, here's probably the latest decent picture made of me, on a train to Moscow, next to my lovely cousin (I'm the blonde): (Gah, why does Wordpress let you scale images & save, and then does not reflect the scaling? Bad Wordpress, very bad)

So I realise that the 4 1/2 picture of me on the photo page looks nothing like me anymore. Proof?
I think the only reason that the picture on the page is still up is because my senior photos are probably the best photos of me ever taken. But the picture above is much more recent. It was taken two weeks ago and is my current Facebook profile picture.

Brinniel, that sure is an interesting picture, especially when contrasted with the one on the main site. Why the change?

Brin shaved her hair as part of a fundraiser for St. Baldrick's, an agency which raises money to help fund childhood cancer research. She raised $700, mostly by being really annoying and weedling those of us on Facebook to support her. Not.
She's awesome!

Thanks, Bethberry.
That's basically the gist of it. *points to link in signature for further detail* I wanted to try something bold for a good cause and received an amazing amount of support in the process...much of which came from fellow BDers (love you guys!). It took awhile to get used to my new look and feel confident about it in public, but thanks partially to the warm weather that allowed me to shed the hats and scarves, I finally found that confidence at the end of last week. Right now I couldn't more satisfied about my appearance...I'm surprised to discover I'm happier without the hair than I ever was with it. I guess you could call it a liberating experience. It'll almost be sad when it does grow back. Two students at my college recently died of leukemia. I never met either of them, but I read their stories along with the stories of so many others, and it's a sobering reminder as to why I feel so strongly about this cause. It's awful to see the lives of so many cut short, especially children. I am proud to do what I can to change that. Compared to what they must go through, sacrificing my hair is nothing and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Way to go Brinniel! Very punk-rock!
I myself did the same thing for the World's Greatest Shave for the Leukemia foundation here in Oz. Of course I had a bit less to cut unless you count my face, and didn't raise as much $, but its all good. |

I figured it's time to put a picture up...and I happened to take this one recently. And yes, I am sun tanning, and yes, it did seem like a good idea at the time.

For anyone who may be curious, I'm keeping track of my hair growth in this album. While I'd love to keep my hair shorn, I'm graduating soon and then job hunting, so it's really not the right time to keep that sort of style. Plus, I want to do this again and donate my hair, so I figured I might as well enjoy observing how my hair grows out. It's been a month now since I've shaved and already my hair is just under a half inch long.

Actually, it can work fairly well during the summer. Stand in a large field of snow for a while and all the lights rays reflect off of the snow and onto you. I've known several people who got sun-burned this way hiking across a glacier. Mind you, this only works if it is warm enough to stand around on a bunch of snow without a coat. Perhaps in a few months though...

Not how I pictured you really, but then again, how often do long-disembodied acquaintances appear as one imagines?
You have the look of a university professor or a film director.

I particularly like the file name "IchmitHut", for non-German speakers "Mewithhat"
And I must agree with Inziladun, although I would archaeologist/historian to the list.

Hey, cool, really! I must join the list of people saying that it's not how I imagined you, however, in a way there is something which resounds with my impression of you. Anyway, I really like that picture. And I would second this archaeologist or something comparison. Nice!
