A sort of blind shot - Hookbill?

If it isn't just a metaphorical riddle, I would say Piosenniel, for all her efforts in our RPG's. Managing the Shire-Roleplayers is hard work, and I should know, I'm one of 'em!
But otherwise I don't know. . . |

Not davem.
First, get the aspect of the Downer I am looking at. It's very common on this thread to base a question on this aspect (and it's not the avatar ).

Is anyone going to give reasons for their guesses?
I labour mightily, but do I ever lose my breath?

Ok, not Nogrod?
Finwe then? All my guesses are connected to the eternity of the PTs. Gil-Galad is the immortal psyche. Nogrod is the unperishable flame. The flame that labours mightly creating. And a flame needs to "draw breath" from air, but since there is no air to that flame, it should "lose its breath". Finwe is part GG, part Nogrod... |

The 'labour mightily' part is much more down-to-earth and stereotypical than immortality and all that.
A real worker. The 'breath' part is just an amusing thought that may come from literal reading.

Sorry, I'll spam.
Telchar? A smith is a real worker and stonehearted is breathless. |

How about Glirdan of the "Energetic Essence"? Maybe not much of a guess, but after 6 pages of titles, nothing else seems remotely like. (Elempi shrugs) Last edited by littlemanpoet; 04-30-2007 at 04:12 PM. |

Yarrr, Volo done got it! Telchar, the Stonehearted Dwarf Smith.
I thought the 'stonehearted' bit raised interesting questions about the character's circulation; and, of course, no-one labours harder than dwarven smiths. Your thread.

Ok, I'll try not writing anything as cryptic as the Lost Age riddles, so here goes: "This member reminds me that I should go to the optician." |

Maybe Sleepy Ranger
The writing on his avatar moves pretty fast and I must admit it took me a while to make out what it says

Gandalf_theGrey. Gandalf the Grey died - not because he lost the battle with the Balrog but because he did not turn and run while he could have.
It is not Gandalf the White because that was after he returned, and Gandalf the White didn't die. -- Folwren

Because you say it's easy, and Folwren's guess was good, I shall try Boromir88 — for Boromir's death (which most of us know about).

I was tempted into trying Boromir as well...also Fingolfin...but those both fought, and they both died because they fought and lost, but also becasue they didn't run. And yet, part of the clue is that it's not because they fought and lost... Gandalf seemed to be the only reasonable answer. I'll try again though...do more thinking.
