Correct!
You're quite correct, Folwren!
Would anyone else like me to reveal where the quote is from? |

Where it was
I'll take the silence as a 'Yes'.
The quote is from the Narn i Hîn Húrin, the one published in Unfinished Tales. Túrin is five years old, and Lalaith his sister, who was compared to an Elf-child, has died of the Evil Breath. He has one friend, a house-man called Sador, who had told him about the different fates of Elves and Men. Túrin then asked the big question 'What is fate?' to which Sador tries to answer. Over to you, Folwren! |

No other takers?
I recognized the quote as soon as I deciphered "Thank you kindly." "Nay! Not Elves,' said the fourth, the tallest, and as it appeared the chief among them. `Elves do not walk in Ithilien in these days. And Elves are wondrous fair to look upon, or so 'tis said.' 'Meaning we're not, I take you,' said Sam. `Thank you kindly. And when you've finished discussing us, perhaps you'll say who you are, and why you can't let two tired travellers rest."

Guinevere, you are, of course, correct.
My apologies for the wait...limited internet access is my shoddy excuse. But it's not really a good excuse, because the real reason was that I plum forgot. Take 'er away! -- Foley

No E, A, or I??
That's crazy.
I'm still stuck on the fact that there MUST be a vowel somewhere. 'U'

Thanks. That'll learn me to check a quote. Perhaps
due to PJ influence (FoTR when leaving Rivendell or in Moria) Gandalf came to mind. Since unlike Tollers, I'm a bit of a Progressive politically, try this quote- reflecting (apparently) improving prospects in American midterm elections. - - / - - - - - ! / - - / - - - - / - - - - - . / - - / - - - / - - - - / - - / - - - / - - - - . / - - - / - - - - - / - - - - - / - - / - - - - - - , / - - - / - - - / - - - - / - - - / - - - - - - .
