hmmmm - Dargor Aglareb was the third and not the second of the great battles of Beleriand. Dargor-nuin-Giliath (The Battle under the Stars) was the second...

How on earth did you ever think of that?
it is the battle between the Balrog and Gandalf greetings, lathspell P.S.: the next question, quite easy, is: what is the last battle fought in LotR?

The Battle of Bywater ?
and by the way, the battle between Gandalf and the Balrog lasts from January 15 where they both fall from the destruction of the bridge. They enter the summit of Zirak-Zigil on January 23 and on the 25th Gandalf casts down his foe. (All dates from The Tale of Years in the appendix) So the Battle in question in very specific and has a name: The Battle of the Peak Gandalf telling in 'The White Rider, TTT': Quote:

Tell me the fate of each Dwarf in the Quest for Erebor. (I figure this is ok because they were in the Battle of Five Armies, in which some died) You can add Bilbo's fate if you really want to, but don't have to, since we all know what happened to him. Ditto Gandalf. heehehe

If you mean what was their fate in the time of LotR:
- Thorin: died in the Battle of the Five Armies - Dwalin: alive - Balin: dead as Lord of Moria - Oin: taken by the Watcher in the Water - Gloin: alive, meeting Frodo in Rivendell - Ori: dead, probably in moria - Nori: alive - Dori: alive - Bifur: alive - Bofur: alive - Bombur: alive, being so fat that it takes six young dwarves to lift him - Fili: died protecting Thorin in the Battle of the Five Armies - Kili: died protecting Thorin in the Battle of the Five Armies I believe I've got them all now I think you meant this... anyway, I can answer later again greetings, lathspell

I'm fairly sure that the Bullroarer (Brandobras Took) invented golf when he knocked off Golfimbul the Orc's head in the Battle of Greenfields in T.A. 2747, S.R. 1147.

I couldn't find this Battle anywhere! DO you mean when Sauron overrun Eriador in 1700 S.A.?

hmm... I know he died in battle with Easterlings in/on The Wold in TA2545, but I can remember the name of the battle. Maybe as simple as 'The battle of The Wold' ?

tricksy one - using Unfinished Tales...
Artamir was an heir to the throne of Gondor. He was slain in the battle with the wainriders. His father and younger brother Faramir both died there also, leaving no direct heir to the throne.

What battle last for 50 years? Bonus points: what prize was recovered and by whom?

The "Battles of Beleriand" were 5 different battles in the War of Beleriand. It wasn't one battle.

I realize that, I just can't remember any of the battles lasting 50 years. I thought maybe they were being combined to span a period of time.

Well it was actually a bit less than 50 years, I am sorry for not double checking first.
The War of Wrath is the answer, approx. 42 years in length, ending with the destruction of Beleriand at the end of the First Age. Feel free to take it whoever would like!!
