Hi! Hope you don't mind us popping in unannounced Mith and I have a couple of characters that are very interested in joining you.
BIO: Name: Enpauriel in formal company, but Laicirith, or more usually Cir, when among friends. Age: 47 Race: Elf Gender: Female Weapons: Just the standard bow and quiver of arrows, and while she is skilled with them they are rarely used. Appearance: Pale skin and long, dark hair which is usually left to hang unhindered down her back, but is tied back into a braid if playing music. Tall and slim with grey eyes as is usual for her kind. Wears boyish clothes, finding them more comfortable for the adventures she and her brother get up to. Personality/strengths/weaknesses: A bit of a troublemaker, always on the look out for something exciting and new and is intensely curious, which can make for a bad combination along with her mischievous streak. Enjoys the company of others, but won’t suffer fools gladly. Has a tongue that has got her into trouble on more than one occasion, but is often used to excuse the same weakness in her brother. Can be bossy, and is especially fond of getting one up on Cir, continually reminding him of that fact that she is a few minutes older than him. Has a good sense of humour and is quickly moved to laughter. Has some skill with most musical instruments. History: Born to Gilthalion and Enhiriel, Enpauriel is one of a set of twins, the other being her brother, Carantilion, and the two grew up in Rivendell. Their most recent bout of trouble making has led to their attachment to a group of palantiri pilgrims, on their way to Mithlond. The twin’s aunt Mithalwen, sister to Gilthalion, lives there, and they are to stay with her.

Character Description Form for the Inn
~*~ NAME: Carantilion Laicirith AGE: 47 RACE: Elf - Noldorin (mainly - dash of Telerin in the mix) GENDER: Male WEAPONS: Bow, quiver and a knife ( a gift from his father but not as sharp as that master craftsman usually crafts them). APPEARANCE: A male version of his twin Enpauriel but as they are not quite full grown and wear similar clothing the differences are less obvious than they might be. He too has grey eyes, an aquiline nose, and dark hair that he wears cut to just below his shoulders, shorter than his sister and even than most male elves since he is too lazy to be bothered with the braiding. PERSONALITY/STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES: Has his sister's sense of mischief but her bossy nature and his slightly indolent nature has led him to be generally more passive and follow her into misadventure rather than being the main instigator. Nevertheless his reputation of being dreamier and less troublesome ( the latter not really justified) has been turned top good advantage by the pair since his sleepier image masks a mind and tongue as sharp as his sister's . He is good at heart and well meaning but doesn't think through the consequences of his actions. HISTORY: Son of Gilthalion and Enhiriel Amilya. Nephew of Mithalwen - - - - - - - - - - - NAME: Mithalwen (from Inn Post) - HERE Quote:
(to be completed tomorrow ..sorry..)

Don't worry In the future we'll be writing separate posts so it might get a little less confusing, depending on how cruel we're feeling.
Oh and Mith will be replying to Dick tomorrow, Folwren.

That's fine, Kath, and I was wondering the same thing as Firefoot. And 'Oh dear' is absolutely right.

Yes .... I will answer and complete my bio after work ....
The shared name Laicirith was the result of some creativity with the name generator. It true elvish meaning is probably irrelevant but the english wasn't.. Kath shall we tell them? And Carantilion was the product of an edited version of my own name. Not sure of the Caran but the link with the errant Maia of the moon seemed appropriate!

Just to let you all know, I'm going to be away and unable to post until next Saturday. (That probably makes it a good thing that Prim and Will are getting out of the kitchen...) I don't foresee a lot of need for Cela in that timeframe, but if there is, a small amount of carrying will be fine.

Well, I've been deabting with myself if I should join this wonderful new Inn and, obviously, the "should" side won out.
Character Description Form for the Inn NAME: Kár Oakenarrow AGE: 120 RACE: Dwarf GENDER: Male WEAPONS: a walking stick (which he made himself) made out of an oak tree, a chisel which has been passed down father to son for countless generations, an axe he carries with him for protection and a sling and pouch full of pebbles. APPEARANCE: Rather short, brown beard. Dark brown eyes. Axe tied to his back. Grey belt holding up dark green pants. Chisel attached to the belt, pouch of pebbles tied to it along with the sling. Dark green shirt which is covered by a red vest. Red hat coverin his messy brown hair. PERSONALITY/STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES: Weaknesses - Wants to see the good in everyone, still a young naive dwarf. Strengths - Pretty agile, his eyesight, his hearing and his ability to think things through in desperate situations. Personality - He's very sensitive, is really in tuned with his emotions. Even though he still rather young, he is still rather intelligent. Quick to laughter and happiness, yet also quick to sadness and anger. Overall (other than his sensitivity), completely like a normal Dwarf. HISTORY: Nothing too interesting. Born in the Blue Mountains. Was supposed to become a Miner like his father. Instead, he decided to go exploring as he was still a young Dwarf (in their standards that is) and still had many years before he could settle down. He brought this idea to his father's attention. His father, on the other hand, didn't like the idea and tried to discourage him from it. Eventually, he ran away and is now travelling. One poitn of interest, however, is that he was adopted by his "father". He did not know his real parents and he did not know what happened to them which is another reason for his venturing; to discover his past. Hope that's enough for everyone.

Lilly, I am so sorry for not posting again in the past couple days. I will try to do that this afternoon. If do not end up managing it, I promise that tomorrow morning, I'll get a post up.
And I'll also be writing something for Dick inside the inn, for all you new comers. Glirdan, I am very happy to see you here. Welcome! -- Folwren

If you want to call attention to someone that you've mentioned their character, you can put the character's name in bold -- either that, or draw the writer's attention to your post on the discussion thread.

Glirdan! I've finally responded to your character. Sorry it took me forever.
Kath, I'm fully caught up, so I've also responded to Cir, too. Noinkling, I realize that one of your dwarves mentioned taking a nap before supper, but I'm not sure if one of them got up for not, so I've mentioned them in my post as still sitting at their table and suggested to Glirdan's character that he go over and meet them. -- Folwren

Something to be addressed. . .
I had originally planned for there only to be six inn people, the Cook, two servers (Rowan and Tollers), Primrose, who is both the cook's helper and half a server, too, I guess, if she's needed, and Will to take care of outside jobs. However, I have noted a few times now in which some random 'server' is mentioned and made use of when neither Tollers or Rowan, and much less Primrose now with a broken leg, is around to be of service (that can't be happening often). If you all think it would be a good idea, we can go ahead and add a non-player character to the inn helpers and make her or him just a random character that anyone can use when they need to.
I don't know that that is necessary, though. If everyone does their job, there shouldn't more gaps than Dick can fill when his helpers are buse elsewhere. When I thought about what people I would need, I was keeping in mind the inn at Bree - The Prancing Pony. There, if you'll recall, Tolkien only mentions Butterbur and his two hobbit helpers. I don't think it's possible that there could have been only those three working there, because they would need someone, supposedly, in the kitchen, but I did take that into account. So - do you think we should add a NPC to the inn to have grab whatever random orders fly out? You all can tell me if they think it should be a boy or girl (if you care), and I'll come up with the name, age, and whatever else as will be necessary, and then s/he'll be able to be used. My personal opinion is that we could handle it admireably with what characters we have, but everyone has to have the understanding that there are no other people working at the inn than Dick, Cela, Primrose, Tollers, Rowan, and Will. . .and occasionally Lilly, when she pops in. -- Folwren EDIT: Ah, by the way, thought I'd remind everyone - Signatures need to be removed from all posts in the Golden Perch. I know it's generally Pio who ups and says it, but I decided to this time, since I happened to be here before her.

Whoops! I think Tollers is the "guilty party" who referred to the anonymous server in the Inn. I am careful about using someone else's particular character without checking first since I've made some blunders of this type before. . But using a character with a brief nod to their regular job is not a problem, and I can certainly do that, if it's better. Please let me know if I should briefly edit.
Anyways, definitely don't change the general set up if it works well overall.

Yes, it is good that you're careful about using other people's characters. I need to be more careful myself, actually, but we need to also be careful about not adding characters that aren't actually there. . .it's not too big of a problem, but I'd like to know all the people who work at the inn. But because an extra character who's not played by anyone would be convenient for times like this, I am seriously considering adding one. But it would be really nice to have all the inn personel played out by people. You may need to briefly edit sometime, but don't do so yet. Quote:

It can be quite hard to keep track of where all the characters are, and certainly hard to get served when no one is available to do it Still, so long as we keep an eye out and people are willing to edit or post around a mistake then I don't think you need to resort to a NPC, Folwren.

Arry!!! It IS soup on the menu! Fish stew, from what I recollect, and though it's not exactly soup, it is kind of flowy! (I don't think that's a word.)

Is anyone in the Inn liable to have instruments of some kind? Just so that when it is time for Mith and I to earn our keep we might have some company doing it.

Maybe one of the dwarves? Tollers, maybe? Dick may have played something, long ago, but he wouldn't be any good now. He likes dancing, though, so if you play some lively music he might pull Lilly up there and dance. I had been thinking that one of his kids might be old enough to play, but I'm afraid not. His oldest son is only 14.
I'm looking forward to it! -- Folwren

Have I ever mentioned which twin was older? If not, then I'm saying now that Dorlind is older than Daisy. Don't know yet by how many minutes, but he is older, unless I've already said somewhere that Daisy is.
I'll put that in the post where I introduced Dick's whole family. . . -- Folwren

With piosenniel’s permission, I’ve taken the character she mentioned, Granny Greenhill (the honeymaker her Rhys and Tanni were going to see), and fleshed her out into a character who will come in now and again to visit The Golden Perch.
----- NAME: Penstemon Greenhill (Nana Penny to her grandchildren; Granny Greenhill to her neighbors; Penny, to her closest friends) AGE: 92 RACE: Hobbit, mostly Harfoot with a smattering of Fallohide GENDER: female WEAPONS: None really. Has a yew wood walking stick she uses to get around and a pair of garden shears in her generous apron pocket with which she cuts flowers and herbs APPEARANCE: 2’10” tall; light brown skin; bright brown eyes; pleasantly wrinkled face which more often than not is graced with a wide, generous smile. The thick brown curly hair of her younger years has now turned to a snowy mass. Partial to one piece, long-sleeved dresses in deep lavenders and cobalt blues; always wears a plain white pinafore apron with two large pockets on the skirt. PERSONALITY: She is a happy person; rarely ruffled by circumstance. Sharp-witted; sharp eyed, there are few things that escape her notice. Very social, has a wide circle of acquaintances; loves parties, food, a half pint of dark ale now and then, and a pipeful of Southern Star when she relaxes. HISTORY: Granny Greenhill was wed to Rowlie Greenhil; she has been a widow these many years. She has five grown sons, all living on little farms near her; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lives about five or six miles from Stock, southwest along the Stockbrook. Her family has always lived in the area. She lives on a small part of her oldest son’s land in a modest, one roomed house. She has a large garden with vegetables, flowers, and herbs.
