I always think Boromir88 sounds like a male version of Francis McDormand in Fargo - he says things like "You bet'cha!" and "Uh-hmm, yah!". Saucepan Man sounds like Paul Bettany to me for some reason. Mithalwen sounds like Ellen McArthur - must be the close proximity to all those yachties on the South coast coupled with a businesslike and 'capable' air.

I though Betty was from the red rose side.....
But you have your own back with Ellen ... she isn't a proper local and really whiny - keep thinking of dead ringers .... hate that crowd... yar yar....second homers ... bleating about Cowes week and spinnakers... or else barking mad sociopaths who think spending months alone in a satellite fitted bathtub is a sign of a superior personality ... the last time I would rather under go dentistry without novocaine than go to a yottie party again.... and business like and capable ..lol well I have a personlity change for work -the rest of the time I am in a daze.......

Now that Thinlómien has an avvie of Winnie the Pooh I'm afraid that his/her voice will turn into that of the Christopher Robin voice, and will continually be saying 'Silly old bear'.

Kath kind of sounds like Scully but with a slightly higher voice.
Folwren has a little bit deeper voice for her age and has a slight southern accent (southern US that is) by which I mean Tennessee region not Mississippi. TORE talks very excitedly. So much so that he seems to be catching his breath after each sentence. He has a very friendly voice.

Their voices are strange to me...
Lily Bombadil sounds an awful lot like Princess Peach.
Anguirel sounds like the announcer from the Wonder Twins. Boromir88 sounds... very odd... Like Alvan and the Chipmunks after they have inhaled helium. Oh, and Perky Ent sounds like Chris from Family Guy. |

The Saucepan Man speaks with a strong and deep Yorkshire accent. I have no idea why, it just seems to fit, as well as being quite amusing to my minds ear.

Anguirel has the voice of This Guy I Know. Low and hesitating, but in a polite and considerate sort of way, as opposed to an unsure one. When he sees someone with whom he shares a bond, his voice picks up an excited note. In any case, he would make an excellent emo singer, crooning ballads that make a girl's heart break. His voice goes along not at all with my Antonio Bandares picture of him.

-- Folwren P.S. Okay, so maybe it's not the southern accent itself that bothers me, but just the uneducated people that tend to use it. I live in a place where it's often used, and they always get their 'was' and 'were's' mixed up and 'take' and 'bring', and goodness knows I can't stand such simple grammar mistakes.

Thenamir, as usual, comes late to this party
I have been accused on page one of this thread of booming in my common indoor voice. I'll have you know that I don't boom. I am, for the sake of conversation, a medium-voice, and a 2nd tenor in the church choir.
Now when I walk I really do boom, weighing in at just over 300 pounds...

Kukukukuku . . .
dancing spawn of ungoliant's voice is full of warmth and cheerfulness. She could say 'Balrogs don't have wings' in a way to make even a pro-winger smile.

Anyone wants to try me before I send a pic to the 'downs photo page, as I promised Spawn I'd do?
And talking about Spawn and given that I'm posting right after Lhuna.... does anyone else imagine Nilp as this innocent looking rather smallish guy with a BIG smile.... that can get a really viscious stare if you get too close to his little sister? Doopy!! That's the cartoon character I'm thinking off..... all peaceful and innocent, but if someone crosses the line, Nilp will make sure he pays for it Edit: Like Droopy but less lethargic

Hmm...I'm not really sure. I'll get some random guy to approach me while I'm with him and we'll see.
You have to hear how he says "Layuan mo kapatid ko! (Get away from my sister!)" though. It's been a long time since he last said that. Well, it did not sound scary or intimidating at all. Rather funny, actually. |

Which I just saw for the first time and read over. It was entertaining, but I find I have nothing to add. I must be a very visual person because I don't really have any specific sound imagery for anyone. You all sound more or less like my inner voice. And I'm from southeast Wisconsin and have one of those very "neutral" American accents. I feel so... boring....

HEY !!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING READING THIS??? GET BACK ON-TOPIC!!! And try figure out how I speak while you are at it three stars to whoever gets my accent properly.

I think that its entirely plausible that this guy speaks in an extremely high pitched voice. I don't know if he counts as a downer...
Since his WW avatar, the good old Saucepan man now, in my mind, sounds like a wolf on helium. Don't ask me why, but I think if it remained as a terrifying werewolf type voice, then I'd have nightmares for a thousand years.

Hookbill's has a high voice and it's commonly puntuated with laughter. He would be fun to be around as he would also have a little chuckle to give you or himself.

Or perhaps an Italian accent (Mario! )

When I read a post, I take the voice of that person from the tone in which they write. So for instance, a lot of the captions posters have a comic lilt, ie. they speak very wittily and animatedly. This particularly applies to Hookbill.
Estelyn and Bethberry have calming and melodic tones, and are always very pleasant to hear. I don't really hear any male voices. I'm a girl myself, so I usually imagine the females as having regional or tonal variations of my own voice. This actually gets very confusing sometimes, as my inner voice is Scottish and sometimes Irish for some unknown reason, but I've so far managed to not make you all sound like that. I think most females come across as a happier and more animated version of Arwen. (I'm now wondering how many of you will forever hear me as Scottish or Irish... personally I'm more partial to the pleasant Irish lilt.)
