I know I am new but I have been a guest for a year now so I have been watching ALL OF YOU! .. My personal favourites are:
Lindil: A respectable person, whose knowledge is amazing. Lush: A very imaginative person. If you see a topic with more than thirty pages, who was the cause of it? Lush! The moment she enters barrow-downs the fun starts… keep it up Lush ! Bethberry: A strict but a fun person. Who is not seen enough. I like her because she aims for something and makes sure she gets it! Oh and she is stubborn, you must see her in the chat room she loves bulling all the newbie’s . Burrahobit: A lovely person with a good sense of humour. Ulmo: I love the way everyone respects you! Niluial: I have been watching her. I think she is new but she has a good humour and she likes to have fun. She puts good topics on and some bad but I suppose she is a newbie. Anyway I like her personality. GaladrieloftheOlden: Wow do you make me laugh! |

Just to clear something up:
Bethberry does not bully newbies. She is an op in the chat room and as such is charged with upholding the rules. Newbies break a LOT of rules, and they tend to be pretty surly about having rules imposed on them at all. Upholding the rules is not bullying. If you want bullying, you should look at The-Fifth, red, and (sometimes) myself. Though all of us tend to pick on people who act like fools, not newbies specifically. *sigh* I believe the the little " " at the end of Amunte's sentence connoted an affectionate use of the word bully, especially as that was a reason for liking Bethberry (who is quite a nice and funny person, as well as admirable for taking on the unenviable task of harnessing newbies.) Working at a library, I know all about the necessity to be firm with loud and annoying people — and *cough* having a sense of humor about playing the "meanie".
That said, I'm selling a variety of flower scented soaps from my box, dirt cheap (plus tax). Anyone want a bar? [ April 26, 2003: Message edited by: Diamond18 ]

I seem to agree with Diamond18. When I do a it is normally a playful gesture I am sure Amunte was just playing around! I like Bethberry in the chatroom it is funny, when Bethberry is in there, there is order but fun! She is a brilliant Op... well I think so..

I understood it was probably a joke, but you would be surprised how many people dislike the ops (who happen to be my friends) for similar reasons. I just wanted to make sure they would have no further fuel for their fires.

*blushes and thanks everyone for their generous and kind words about me*
One of the most outstanding features of the Barrow Downs is, I think, the courtesy which we extend to each other, and that clearly shows in the many ways we have found here to acknowledge each other. I'm really very proud to be part of an online forum with such a generous community. I would like to say that the word 'bullying' did catch me up a bit, even with the winking smilie. I've spent years as a parent volunteer in my children's schools developing and working in peacemaking and conflict resolution programmes, where the word 'bully' has little to do with fair play, equitable treatment, tolerance, and respect for rightful rules. However, now you all know where I got my 'training' for being a BD channel op--kindergarten. And I hope those of you who were around the channel last night enjoyed the BD Channel Ops Inprov with Merendis and me. We'll be taking it into repertory soon. I love ME so so very much. Sometimes I just sit around thinking about how great I am and how much I love me. People can't believe just how great I am.

Since my first impression of your post was that it sounded exactly like something burra would write, and on rereading it, I agreed with my original impression, then since either burra resembles you or you resemble burra, you must greatly admire him too.

Bethberry! You are so brave. I love children and everything but... my temper! They run everywhere and they jump and pull on you and ask lots of questions , I suppose I am not a children’s person, I guess some people are not made for the job (like me ). But don’t get me wrong I think children are really cute but my temper and children don’t like to mix ... But I admire people like you… well I am actually awed..

Yep that was Cloud Strife but now he is also called Mattius Firnlord for my RPG charachter from THE BLUE MOUNTAINS and THREAT OF THE TREES- its not stealing its borrowing.
I posted a full picture of him for my bio on THREAT OF THE TREES too. I also stole his surname for my charachter Jack Strife in SEARCH FOR THE BOOK. Oh yes and I also have blond spikey hair and blue eyes BUT saying all that I just could NOT pass up and dancing YELLOW(!!!!) chicken now could I?

I tried looking for a serious picture I swear I did but the chicken it drew me with its power. I couldn't help myself, its a yellow, dancing chicken with a big red thing on his head for God sake's! How could I possibly resist its charms!
you know sometimes at night I turn my PC just so I can see it... ***grabbing my knees and rocking backwards and fowards whilst shifting my eyes madly...*** I am normal, honest!

I was reading the Blue Mountains, and what kept popping into the corner of my eye? The chicken! What with Helka's archer, I hope you two don't RPG together!
Then again, I have to say that the chicken is probably my favourite avatar. [ April 27, 2003: Message edited by: Lyra Greenleaf ]

And I appreciate all the people who post sensibly. Squatter, Bill Ferny, Lush, Saucepan Man, Tal Palantir, Bethberry, Child of the 7th Age are the ones that come to mind, but I know there are heaps of others and I want to say thank you to you all.

The old rip-off thread! I might go have a look at that, and maybe post. Though the last time I did that it was ignored *sniff*.
Anyway, two people I've forgotten: Raefindel: She sent the most beautiful PM over the Christmas holidays which really cheered me up. I still have it and hope to keep it as long as my account is active and in existence. Bekah: She helped teach me the meaning of Rhetoric, a useful thing to know (it really is, I've heard it on the radio about five times since).
