I know this one! Gandalf says "Mellon" in "A Journey in the Dark" as the answer to the riddle "Speak friend and enter" at the gates of Moria!

The letters are Elvish, of an ancient mode, but the language is that of Mordor, which I will not utter here. But this in the Common Tongue is what is said, close enough: One Ring to Bring them all and in the darkness bind them.'" |

Whoa there, TheBlackRider and Belegfanaion!
HerenIstarion hasn't yet come back to confirm that Bruce MacCulloch has answered his quote correctly. When he does, it's Bruce's turn to ask. (basic Middle-Earth Fun and Games rules) If you're really anxious to ask a Quote, just start a new thread (New Topic). [ April 11, 2002: Message edited by: Lostgaeriel ]

That's OK and understandable, Belegfanaion. Once someone posts a question (even when it wasn't their turn), it's a great temptation to answer it. (Did it myself recently on another quotes thread. And I think that too was an answer to a question from HerenIstarion that hadn't been confirmed. )
Hope you're having fun on the Downs. If you (or TheBlackRider) have any (more) quotes or quiz/trivia to challenge us with, start a new topic. There are never enough games to play. It was a few days before I found one with a question pending that I could answer, when I first arrived. (I think it was this very quotes thread.) [ April 12, 2002: Message edited by: Lostgaeriel ]
