I’m starting recruitment now for WWJ VIII ~ Things That Go “Quack” In The Night
I’ve set up the thread, with an introductory post to give you an idea of the concept. And, um, the kind of narration you can expect from me. This game will have: 3 Wereducks 1 Owl (Seer) 1 Hawk (Hunter) And, if there are enough players, possibly a Nightingale (Protector), Goose (Cobbler) or even something else. I am not expecting a high turn out though, so if I get 12 players I’ll be happy. I would toy with the idea of Lovebirds but that would need more than 15 players, so maybe sometime in the future. For now, I really only have the Owl and Hawk as definite gifteds. I have some tricks up my sleeve, so this should prove to be a very interesting game. A few things up front: I will not reveal the Owl/Seer until the end of the game. That means, if/when s/he dies, s/he will only be listed as a Villager. S/he is welcome to declare Owlness in the game, but it will not be verified by me. The Hawk/Hunter of course with be revealed by virtue of taking someone else down. The Owl will not be told who the Hawk/Hunter is, just that s/he is innocent. The same would go for any other possible gifteds. All will be revealed only at the end of the game. As for start time, I suspect it will take a while to get enough players, so I’m setting my sights on after Farael’s game is completed (unless I’m surprised by a quick sign up) but before LMP’s game. I’d like to fit this in between the next two senior games. Especially since I’ve already signed up for LMP’s game. When signing up, please name a species and an occupation/characterization for yourself. This village is anachronistic and of mixed-species. Hobbits, men, elves, dwarves, even “reformed orcs” are welcome, as are more modern occupations, if you so wish. Basically, it’s a going to be a crazy mixed up mumbled up shook up world (except for my Lola, Lo-lo-lo-lo-looolaaaaa *cough* sorry) and the characterizations should reflect that. I’m really excited about this, and thoughts of how to play with the narration have been percolating for a few weeks, so I hope it’s infectious.

Let me be the first to leap to your side, milady Took. Can I suggest as many special roles with amusing bird names as possible?
Mythomaniac as Lesser Spotted Warbler...? As for me, I will be...a bird-catcher. Papagena papagena!

Can I put myself down as a maybe dependent on wbhen it actually happens? The idea of playing with Ang in Zauberflotian mode is delightful .... but Ang ...*looks stern* are you up to date with work and revision

If it's not starting until some time next week at the earliest, you can count me in.
Occupation to follow ...

What day do you actually plan on starting? If it is after the 19th I can play otherwise I will be travelling soon and will be unable to do participate.

I don't plan on it starting before the 19th, Morm. I shall be devoting most of my attention to the Senior game this week and by mid-week next week I'll see where things stand, both there and in sign up here.
What kind of bird-catcher will you be, Ang? (Elf, man, etc.)

If this game is starting next week, you might count me in too, with a series of question marks added. It all depends on the way Farael's game will be played out. After dropping after the first night in my last game, I'm kind of waiting for some real playing, not just watching from aside.
I just love your idea of a little bit mixed-up village with all the absurdities involved... I could be a dwarf, and a personal fitness instructor.

I shall resist the temptation to be a pheasant plucker ( ) and opt instead to be a "reformed" orc whose grotesque features and limited brain capacity are admirably suited to his chosen occupation as a scarecrow.

I would like to be an Elf and from that wonderful list that Mith provided I will be and Idleman. Both pompous and lazy.

Pop me in as a maybe would you Diamond? I'm more likely than not to sign up for real but I do need to check some dates first.

The 23rd would be perfect for me. Could you put me on the maybe list as well, or are you tired of all the question marks?

I'm going to stick with human, and my occupation (this was seriously on the list) is a Batman. Well, Batwoman...

Oh and incidentally, I will be a baritone bird-catcher... that's enough of a race as opera roles go...

Unfortunately the voice type has a higher than usual likelihood of being killed.
My father had a batman when he was in the army - ok that was a long time ago but ... well I guess it made us laugh when we were little ...

Mithalwen the Saggar Maker's Bottom Knocker (with a side line retraining a Feng shui and aura consultant.)
Quite possibly the longest character description ever.... Maybe just "Mithalwen the Feng Shui Saggar Maker's Bottom Knocker"?

I checked and it was Saggar. I'm anal that way.
I figured it was a joke but you don't dangle a treat like that before my moderatorly eyes and get to take it back. I hate to say so, as it seems rather like hoping you lose, but I look forward to your death. Let's see, Mithalwen the Elven Saggar-Maker's Bottom Knocker. Works for me. If there's no Saggar-Maker you can just be unemployed.

For purposes of my death scene, I am going to be Diamond Took, the Halfling Poet. In case that matters to anyone when choosing your professions.
Edit: Also, when choosing a race, please pay attention to what others have picked because I'd like all the races to be represented somewhat equally. For reference, right now we have 3 elves, 2 humans (I'm counting Ang as a human) 1 Orc, and 1 Dwarf.

This looks like it might be fun. But I think I should take a break before joining Lmp's game...Put me as a maybe Diamond.
Quick question, after Lmp, who's to be the next mod?? Have we got a mod list that far?

I'd like to sign up please! It's my first game but Wilwa explained it to me and I think it sounds like a lot of fun!
For an occupation I'd like to be: an igloo maker.

Glirdan, Kath is after LMP.
Lote, welcome to the game -- an igloo maker sounds funny. Would you like to be human, hobbit, elf, dwarf, or orc (or something else)?

Wait, is LMP's game in WW or WWJ? I was under the impression it was WW.

LMP is WW.
Noggin and Lommy's Penguin-fest and Samwise Gamgee's game follow D18 but not necessarily in that order in WWJ I think

Ok, well, I'm signing up for modding for after Samwise's game. I have a special idea in mind that will involve all previous mods from the WWJ thread (that's including Lmp because his is going to be a giant game which will probably put the junior game on hold as well as well as [possibly] some of the co mods).
Also, I guess I'll sign up Diamond. As for occupation...hmmm....can I be the local Tree hearder and (if you haven't guessed it) I'll be an Ent!!

Ok Diamond, sign me up.
I was especially lured by the whimsical occupations theme...I shall be a chubb fuddler. For further information, please see Nancy Mitford's seminal Pursuit of Love. I'd better be a hobbit, I suppose.
