Terrorising wood-elves eh? It's that Legolas, he drives me mad... Mua-ha-ha...
I wonder if the Barrow-Wight has created a 'Reputation Generator (TM)'?

I suppose it must have reduced to 50-100-200 points sequence after 4000. Let's hazard a guess Lal has 4250+ points at the moment

My theory is that once you hit a certain plateau (aka the davem Lalwende line) the little reppy tags are either:
a) rewritten for you from time to time by the BW himself, or b) selected from a random list of titles, and is changed from time to time Or, possibly, you are given the ability to choose your own tag and Lal and davem are giving us glimpses into their sordid psyches...

Speaking of odd reputations... I checked my User CP and noticed that I had a postive rep worth about a half dozen points that was not only unsigned, but had no comment. It was for accusing Sharku of being Christopher Lee, as I found out when I clicked the link (just to be positive of what the source of this mystery was). But when I clicked my rep scales, all it showed was another rep I'd gotten for that self same post. No sign of this mystery rep. So I clicked back to my CP and it was still there, and still just as mysteriously blank. Do unsigned reps always show up as... not showing up?

If the rep is without comment or sig, then of course you can't see it, silly. There's nothing to see.

A few observations...
Whilst looking at the members list earlier, I have observed the following:
The lowest reputation title yet received is "_____ is as unpopular as Bill Ferny." Although Lalwendë and davem have both entered the realm of unbelievably strange reputation titles, The Saucepan Man, next highest on the list, still has not managed to steal any taters from confused gaffers. Why is this? Is all that clanging and banging giving him away when he tries?

I have realised why I sometimes accidentally give anonymous reps.... it is my age.... There were so many brilliant posts in the game that I too found myself giving out too much rep in the last 24 hours.
In case anyone's interested, I received approximately 8 billion rep points from this Werewolf game. Thanks very much to everyone. It seriously does brighten my day. Makes getting up in the morning worthwhile.

I'm curious... so you people actually give out rep during WW games? I haven't, because I haven't wanted to influence the game in some way, but maybe it doesn't...?

I try not to during the game. I think I started giving out a few congratulatory "great games" during the last DAY after I had voted for myself. At that point pretty much the only thing left to determine was whether Saurreg or Eomer was the wolf anyway (for those who hadn't yet).
edit: I usually do something like Morm only I usually try to find the villager's last post or their most significant post of something...it doesn't matter much. If I see something in particular I want to rep during the game I just write it down somewhere so I can come back to it after the game is finished. I give out a lot of WW rep. Although I always do it after the game and at times I pick out a specific post other times I just find the person I wanted to rep and rep the first post that I find.

I generally give out WW rep after the game is over, or at least after the person I'm repping has been killed. I've been a wolf twice, and I generally rep my fellow wolves, as well as other posts/players I particularly enjoyed.

i had a scary thought...Nilp actually sitting upon high Tanquietal...*shudders*
(edit: okay... i never meant it, i'm never cruel with my jokes and you should know that, i'm not saying that Nilp doesn't derserve the rank, just think of Nilp's character being a Valar! its for humour purposes! i posted this to make people laugh, and it really hurts me when i suffer for my selflishness of thinking for other people)

I'm surprised myself, Gil-galad.
Especially by the fact that I haven't left the first page of the Rep-ranks ever since it started. And before that, I was a relative nobody!
Thanks to all you people there. You know who you are. Giving due to gratitude, ++Nilpaurion

I suggest that everyone avoids repping active players during a Werewolf game because, even if not meant as a hint, it could still be taken as such.

I agree with Teenage Wolf Pan up there. Given that whole clear hindsight thing everyone is always coining the use of... Even though my words to Lhuna were entirely ambiguous during last game's random unsigned rep, they still allowed her to see that she made someone happy with something she wrote. Not necessarily that she was right, but that she had back up. All I can say is I think I would have felt guiltier in hind sight had Eomer actually been caught for his base treach-wolvery. Since Lhuna's accusations were never actually listened to, I don't feel as bad because my mistake didn't particularly affect the game.
But someone else's might! *cue the scary music*

No way could anyone stop those wolves.
I repped someone during the game, while that person was still playing. But I made it very clear that it was for the humour in the post (which was very funny indeed). It is risky to even say "Good post", though.

...And the rest of us? I've repped several WW posts in various games, simply because, as seen by the number of quotes that have reached signatures, some of the posts are simply so witty.

I agree, that does tend to help. I'm curious though, has anyone else recieved reps from really, really old posts that you have to track down to find out what subject it was? I recently recieved one, without a name... I'm not angry or anything related, but it does intrigue me. ~ Aesthete

I really like receiving rep from old posts (I've only gotten a handful); it's nice to know that even though they're old, they're not forgotten. And I do rep old posts; sometimes when I have nothing else to do I go back and read old threads; the only problem is I often find more than one quality post by the same member!

Davem is now also terrorising wood elves. Congratulations.
I only got two reps for WW during the game my other reps for the game came after it was finished. And because of the WW reps I now have 7 boxes. So thanks everyone.

"Hey, who's that terrorizing my cousins?"
"Davem. " "Lalwende wasn't enough of a party crasher; now there's davem too? Ah, well. Think he can be bought off with a bottle of wine?" "He's no butler! He's a professor." "Hmm. We haven't seen any pipeweed since that fellowship came through during the war. What else do you buy off a professor with?" "Try running him over with the White Stag?" "Worth a go. Shall we?" "Oh, no hurry. Can't leave the wine here all by itself. Your ivy circlet has slipped." "Thanks. Who'll lead the hunt?" "Whoever loses at the drinking song, of course."

I've just noticed that The Saucepan Man now 'steals taters' and that Lalwende 'was once misplaced by a forgetful Maia'? Where did that one come from? Well, congrats to both of you!

The question the begs answering now is: misplaced where?
I'm sure ye noble Barrowdowners will get to the root of this mystery.* *If you are Lalwende, please read this post as: Congratulations! If you could also tell us where you were misplaced, it would be most helpful. |

100 points to the first person who can tell how I came up with the most recent reputation levels. No guesses, your answer must be specific and complete.

Drat, I can't make heads or tails that makes much sense. But I'm thinking it's Bilbo, or something like that.
I don't know when he stole taters, but it's very possible, knowing his heritage. The petty dwarves would be Thorin and Company when they tumbled into his hobbit-hole. The terrorized wood-elves would have to be Thrandruil's(sp) folk while he was wearing the Ring. The misplaced by a Maia... I don't know, maybe when Gandalf left him in the Misty Mountain tunnels? Oh, that really can't be it; can it?

Thorin and Company were Thorin and Company and would have resented being called petty-dwarves (Thorin in particular would probably have had a violent reaction).

The stalked-by-petty-dwarves rep level could refer to Mîm and the other petty-dwarves that were spotted by Túrin and his outlaws. In Andróg's eyes the dwarves could've been stalkers.
