I think that if Sauron thinks Pippin is the ring-bearer. Then he will take his eye off of Frodo and Sam and give them more of a chance.

Oh, please, stop with the 'Damn PJ, he's ruined the movie' comments. He's brought the books to life for many people.
As for cutting out the Dunedain, I can see why they did that. Put more emphasis on our dear Three Walkers.

re the point
quote:
True, the Ringwraiths did see Frodo with the ring, but the saw him in their 'world' - the only way they can see is if the ringbearer is wearing the ring.

In my view this hits the nail on the head. Go back to the weathertop scene in the fotr movie. notice how the (witch king?) looks around at frodo AS HE PUTS THE RING ON. They can only SENSE the ring when it is worn, and, in my opinion, they do not SEE the ring when it is not worn. remember, they were hunting hobbits because they were TOLD a baggins had the ring, not because they SAW him with one.
Therefore, the nazgul only saw a hobbit type creature at osgiliath. sam just stops frodo putting on the ring in time.
Therefore, there's a hobbit in osgiliath, but not neccesarily with the ring. then (hopefully) in rotk, sauron catches pippin in the palantir, adds 2 and 2 together and comes up with 5, therefore disregarding frodo in osgiliath beforehand?
Phew!

ps, back to the thread!
what happens to brego then? As the 3 hunters go through the gate to the paths of the dead without any horses. I take it they must find some more horses on the other side as it's a long way to walk to the port!
