My very feeble attempt now has a second verse but the thread seems to have gone (?) so here it is.......
The Legend of the Ring "Some time ago in a forgotten place A dark lord dreamed to govern evey race, And in order to gain all the land The dark lord created a golden band. A dwarven seven and a mortal nine An elven three with powers divine, But twenty was the final score One more was forged tells ancient lore. One to rule above all the rest And put each creature to his test. Until an alliance of elves and men Came face to face with his dark ten, Nine mortal men doomed to die And the dark lord to rule them all on high. The battle raged as they fell one by one Until the dark lord's deed was done, But elves resisted and men wouldn't crack Until Isildur fell upon his back. He lifted up his father's blade And with that blow the rings power unmade, Sauron defeated but spirit not gone The legend of the ring would forever live on." N.R. It is good to see your Lothlorien haiku here, Gandalf_theGrey. Have you ever written a poem about the Shire?
piosenniel, the wistful bliss of your poem reminds me of a longing expressed by a friend on a Hobbiton RP thread last summer. She had wanted it always to be July in Hobbiton. *skips away with more poems to put in her 'commonplace' book* Bethberry

Thank you, Bethberry.
I always like that prism-haiku of yours as well. As for the Shire poem, I'm waiting for the right time to bring it out. Thank you for asking about it. Gandalf the Grey |
