I guess we're drifting off topic here, but I'll answer the question. If people want to continue with this just PM me or we will continue in the "other fantasy" thread.
The first book is the Book of Atrus and the second the Book of Ti'Ana though they likely are a better read the other way around. Their based on the Myst computer games but are really very solid novels and quite good. The third book (The Book of D'ni) isn't bad but after reading it I think they should have stopped at two. It's the talk of when something is imagined and written down it becomes real that got me thinking of these books. That theme is very central to them. H.C.
