K is for Khazad-dûm. It's situated in the central regions of the Misty Mountains and was founded by Durin. After the dwarves had left it it was called Moria. The attempt of Balin to reclaim it failed and later, the fellowship crossed it and lost Gandalf who fought a Balrog.
