Congrats, Samwise - you're certainly on a roll right now. Hope you're feeling a little better from that .
Aragorn, random question; would you happen to be a fan of B5?

Cool! (Oh lord, now I have to think of another one...well, I'll think about it for a bit). Have a good night, m'lady Samwise .
Meanwhile, in lieu of the new riddle I haven't thought of yet, I'll refer people back to the "two brothers" one I posted on the first page.

Hi, sorry not been on for a couple of days - wow we've moved.
Yes, Nuranar it was life! There are two of them, they are brothers The second twice as large as the first To know the second, you must meet the first Although only the second is ever sought. Every man meets them. Who/what are they? Is it birth and death. |

No, it's not birth and death. Good guess, though!
Nuranar - it's literally twice as large, but just remember that that statement can apply to a couple of different angles of the answer . Aragorn - The Z'ha'dum kind of tipped me off - actually I've seen very little B5 but have friends who were devoted to it and have taped every episode. And hearing them talk about it I was rather struck by the similarity to Khazad-Dum...total coincidence, I'm sure . Still trying to think of my new riddle - I'll be back .

Sorry to go off track - but stuck on Kalimac's riddle (good one!)
There are a numebr of links between B5 and LOTR - I read an article about it. Another link is the us of Rangers - they even dress the same. (Just though you may be interested!!) A xx |

Kalimac - my guess for your superb riddle is 'Life & Love'; although I am nearly sure I am incorrect. It's definitely a tricky one...

Kalimac - I'm not that big of a fan. But the similarity between the two are amazing. I'll try to find the link, but I found a website talking of the similarites.

Oof...now I'm hoping the riddle wasn't *too* vague. All of the guesses are really ingenious (I mean, they're not answers I'd ever have thought of, if presented with this riddle) but I really didn't intend to stymie the thread to this point. Here are some hints:
(1) Both answers begin with the same letter (I've given this one before) (2) The second "brother" is literally twice as large as the first, but not in a way that can be physically measured (what I mean is, don't try to use a ruler, tape measure, scale or anything like that, it won't work) (3) Both of them physically stimulate the nerves. And no, they're not off-color, so don't bother . Hope that helps. If this goes on much longer, would you mind if I just told the answer? Then you'll all know and can say in chorus "WHAT? How do get that answer from those clues?" .

And speaking of Kalimac's riddle...(kidding)...
Here's another from Sam. --------------------------------------------- I have no physical form but I can bring a man to a halt. As large as I may seem, something quite small can end my reign. What am I? Quote:

Samwise, is yours an illness? It's not the Sun and the Moon either. Oh dear...
Firladion, now you make me want to visit Robin Hood country ... BTW about my last one - is anyone for just having me tell what the answer is and then barraging me? I wouldn't mind if the rest wouldn't.

Okay, one more guess, and then I'll go get some snails out of the garden to throw at you (kidding.....) LOVE and FREINDSHIP? No, those don't have sizes.....ah, I don't know! Quote:

Ouch, poor snails. (Unless they do something nasty to plants; never lived in snail country when it comes to gardening). No, it's not love and friendship (do you like Jane Austen, Samwise? ). Would you like to know the answer? It was a little scary to log in this evening and see all those "I have no idea" messages, maybe I should just get it over with .
Is yours a headache? (Aspirin getting rid of it).

Please, Kalimac, post the answer! I'm sure I'll smack my head and dance around the room, calling myself a triple imbecile, but all the same I don't have the energy to try to guess it.
Samwise, I like your riddle - although I'm not a man, it's unfortunately all too true for me...and sometimes the "something quite small" doesn't end its reign...

OK everyone, here it is, and I'll admit right here that some of the clues were a little...off-kilter...so please don't banish me ... please?
The riddle is: There are two of them, they are brothers The second twice as large as the first To know the second, you must meet the first Although only the second is ever sought. Every man meets them. Who/what are they? The answer is.......PAIN and PLEASURE. They're a natural pair (brothers), and you have to experience pain before you can appreciate pleasure (if you want to be very literal, everyone experiences the pain of birth before they can experience the pleasure of, well, anything else). And nobody deliberately seeks out pain - well, there are a few exceptions but we're talking about the normal 99% of the world here - while everyone seeks pleasant experiences. Every man meets them - that probably doesn't need too much explanation. And as for "the second twice as large as the first" - well, count the number of letters in each word. There it is. All questions and scoldings are welcome . And while I have a couple more riddles which I'm due to come up with, I can promise wholeheartedly that I will not use the number of letters as a clue ever again.

Nuranar - Thank you [Kalimac blushes]. Shadow sounds good as an answer to Stephanos' riddle as anything - in fact I can't even THINK of anything else.
Samwise - Umm, was that a good AIIII or a bad AIIII? And in case anyone is still willing to guess at a riddle that I wrote, here's one of the backed-up ones I should have done a while ago. Millions of lives will end to create me In every house it happens, every day. I am not alive, and yet I grow. And when my growth is ended, I will shrink Until there is nothing left.
