I read about Turin and I think of Christian Bale. Dunno why though.

I think David Bowie (or his younger self) could make a good Gwindor.

for Maeglin a Gladiator-like Joaquin Phoenix might work...

I like the idea from the original post, of Clive Owen as Maedhros. I think that could potentially work really well!

Let's see then...
Feanor I think William Dafoe. He's got that really intense energy about him, bordering on madness. Fingolfin Daniel Day Lewis (actually I see both Fingolfin and Feanor as looking younger than these actors but I can't think of any better ones nonetheless. At least they look about the same age) Maedros Not sure here... Celeborn Jude Law would be perfect, as someone already noted. Curufin Christian Bale Ándrog Mads Mikkelsen (a Danish actor, Rune at least knows him) Hurin Who else but Russell Crowe!? Turin It should be a strapping young lad and a real heartthrob. Hm. Dunno who really. Melian Gwyneth Paltrow has a very compassionate look that might fit the role. And she's gorgeous. Thingol A snotty Hugh Grant perhaps I also like the idea of Gwen Stefani as Idril which someone had. It does seem fitting somehow. Quote:

Well if they had ever made this movie 5 years ago I would say that the best choice for Luthien is Anna Netrebko. Hell, she could probably do it now as she's still very beautiful.
Not only a beautiful woman but also a very famous opera singer with a lovely voice. Thats what I call taking out two birds with one stone. |

Joaquin Phoenix as well as Rufus Sewell certainly deserve roles. Also, I googled Olivia Hussey (someone suggested her as Lúthien), found a pic of her when she's older, and instantly thought about Melian. Take a few years away, and it's perfect. (I don't know about her acting skills though - I've never seen her in any film...)

This is my female cast list, I'm still working on the male one.
Varda - Eva Green (you may disagree with me on this one, but I think she's just out of this world. A true goddess!) Yavanna - Emanuelle Beart - another true goddess Melian - Monica Bellucci for obvious reasons Miriel - Marion Cotillard - when in doubt always turn to the french Indis - Diane Kruger Luthien - very difficult cause IMO there's no one out there more beautiful than Liv Tyler, so I'll stick to Liv (plus, I can really see her as Monica Bellucci's daughter...) Nerdanel - Angelina Jolie (she would look fierce as a redhead!) Earwen of Alqualonde - Charlize Theron (Aeon Flux but with longer hair, anybody? To me she just fits the 'swan-maiden' profile) Anaire - Olga Kurylenko, she's the new Bond girl (not a big role as Anaire, but I just had to throw her in there cause she's gorgeous) Aredhel - Catherine Zeta Jones (watch both Zorro movies and you'll know what I'm talking about Galadriel - Cate Blanchet (I'm fantasizing about a young Galadriel embodied by Clemence Poesy... They both have noses with personality:P) Elenwe - Sienna Guillory (she played an elf before in Eragon and she just has the right physiognomy) Idril - Scarlett Johansson (not so sure about it, but to me she's as close as you can get to the whole angelic, perfect blonde thing. Her lips are a little too big for an elf, but then again I casted Angelina as Nerdanel, so go figure...) Elwing - Keira Knightley most definitely! Finduilas - Natalie Portman, again most definitely Celebrian - Naomi Watts (this was a tricky one for me, cause she has to be the missing link between Cate Blanchett and Liv Tyler, but I'm pleased with the choice) and finally, the human ladies: Morwen - Evangeline Lily Rian - Kate Bosworth |
