Naaramare:
Thank you for the birthday greetings. The Fifth: Hmmmm, cookies shaped like The Eye? Perhaps after you let them harden they'd make good missile weapons in a pinch, a very useful gift indeed! Birdland: Hey, I've always wanted an authentic Beorning sculpture. Many thanks! Bethberry: Thanks for pointing out the rainbow, my friend. On my computer, it looks more like an arc of white or yellow light. Now that I know it's a rainbow, it reminds me of the one I saw in Ireland eleven years ago on my birthday ... on which instance I even saw the end of the rainbow in a field. Never fear, good Birdie.
I've finally rolled a good enough number on the dice to allow my character to get back to what passes for normal, hence, I can try to write a halfway decent post and will be happy to interact with your character. At your Service, Gandalf the Grey |

Hi Birdie!
I was worried that I was posting too much, so I hung back to let others post. Don't worry; I won't forget you! Bethberry

All:
I expect we shall shortly be meeting someone new along the road, sometime after night passes and the new day dawns. Cimmerian: We are also ready to meet up with your Dwarf character, if you are still interested. Naaramare and Vanima Edhel: Welcome back! |

Wonderful last two posts, Gandalf. I can't think of anything more clever to say than, "Oh, washing day", so I'll leave replying for tonight and hope that greater inspiration comes to me by tomorrow.
Happy Canada Day, everyone! Bethberry

Yes, Happy Canada Day! ::tosses maple leaves and hockey pucks all over everyone, because she is Canadian and thus amused by her own stereotypes::
Hm-mmmm. Very nice, Gandalf, now I have to figure out the name of the pass! ::makes a face at you:: You're a joy to rp with, you know? ^~ (am serious) [ July 01, 2002: Message edited by: Naaramare ]

Naaramare: But I already know where the pass is, or at least can take a very good guess as to which mountain .... !! Why, isn't it obvious what happened from the clues you've presented? So do I. ^^
Sorry, Gandalf. Considered Lonely Mountain, but was forced to conclude that if it had been that far, she would have been dead. As you might not have guessed yet, she had to relearn pretty much everything from scratch, including camping skills. ^^;;

Thanks, Guys. This one is from Alan Lee's painting of the Withywindle. The first one was by Tolkien. It was nice and foresty but not necessarily scary enough. I wasn't sure if this one would come out clear enough because the colours aren't terribly distinct. I hope you can make out that it has a river and trees and wild roots and branches.
Oh, BTW, Naaramare, here's some maple syrup from my part of the Old Forest to celebrate Canada Day.*offers virtual syrup* We have a civic strike, so no pools and no fireworks. *big pout* I look forward to hearing more about your character's history, as you, er, remember it. And Birdie, I realize I have to go back and delete my calling you by name earlier before you introduced yourself. *knocks hand on forehead and shakes head* Bb Edit: Welcome, piosennial. I like your character's name. It is hobbitish without being sentimental and, um, flowery. [ July 01, 2002: Message edited by: Bethberry ]

Oooh, maple syrup! Living in Western BC, don't actually have a lot of access to that . . . *L*
And I have most of my chara's history mapped out. ::grins:: Tis long, complicated and dramatic. Driving back and forth to Pouce Coupe, I have wayyy too much time on my hands.

It is possible that we may see a new face on the road at any time. (Well, new to most of us, anyways ... )
I will be travelling between Tuesday through Sunday, so my computer access will be sporadic these next few days ... if I'm able to use a computer, it will be because I'm borrowing one. Still, I should be able to keep up with the RP in a pretty decent manner. * likes both of Bethberry's avatars * Look for me at unexpected times. Hullo all,
I believe I am the new visitor that Gandalf was speaking of. Let me give you a little background info on Arcon, my character. An elda, Arcon has been around since the first age. He serves Cirdan as a captain of the guard in Mithlond. His half-brother Haidan, who served Elrond, recruited Bethberry and Gandalf, and others as well, in a mission to Umbar. Haidan was killed in a troll attack and Arcon resumed the leadership role of the mission after his brother's passing. This was around the year 2000 T.A. so quite a few years have passed since then. He has not seen either Bethberry of Gandalf in quite some time. (In case your wondering about the amount of detail in this background, it was another RP in "another land". Namaamare,
Thank you for the welcome, and I would like to coordinate with your amnesia with my character if that's alright. I analyzed your name in Sindarin, the tongue of Arcon. By my translation, it means, roughly, "With Royal Earth". You could take this several ways, but I interpret your name as this: Elves are of course, bound to Arda, a reason for their immortality, they co-exist with the actual earth they live on. "Royal Earth" could mean a kingdom of some kind, the "with" could mean you are directly connected to this kingdom. Could this mean that Namaamare is of royal blood? Just some thoughts. What do you think? The Fifth, Thank you. It's good to be here! Birdland, With a name like "Birdland", shouldn't I be making fun of you? Just kidding! Thank you for the welcome. Oro (a.k.a Acorn ) |

Why, Oro, I do believe you're psychic. ^~ The name was chosen for something of a double-meaning. I'd be happy to play along.

Hullo all! It seems I've done things backwards as usual - jumped into the RPG before introducing myself.
Holly is a new character, just developing for me. She's a hobbit from Stoor stock - a little larger than the Fallohides or Harfoots, more independent, and inclined to wanderlust, adventurous, comfortable in the water, and quite capable of a certain ferocity if roused. She has just come from visiting friends in the Eastfarthing and is making her way to Tharbad where she has encountered this group on the road. From there, her intention is to go to Isengard and through Fanghorn to the Anduin; then down the Great River to Minas Tirith. From there she wants to go to Pelargir and take the road then to Linhir, where she has a dwelling. The object of this trip is purely for her own curiosity & enjoyment, She is sketching the countryside and sights as she goes and keeping a running description of the trip in her chapbook. I hope we can enjoy each other's company for as long as our paths run together!

May I direct your attention to the thread called "If You Can Meet Anyone from Da Barrow Downs.." in the Announcements Forum? A historic announcement was made there yesterday ..... I invite you to go take a look. Also, since I'll be visiting relatives today and tomorrow, I do not expect to have access to a computer until Friday night. But I shall return! piosenniel: I look forward to many rewarding interactions between our characters. Miss Holly Stoor sounds intriguing indeed. As for where Gandalf intends to go after Tharbad, I am for now purposely not divulging the rest of his itinerary. If Holly's path diverges from that of the rest of the group, you always have the option of introducing another character. Gandalf the Grey [ July 04, 2002: Message edited by: Gandalf_theGrey ] |

Gandalf and Bethberry,
Historic would be an understatement!! I'm so very jealous of you both! I'm so happy to hear that you two had the chance to finally meet, after all your time together online. All:
I am still on the road, with roughly an eight-hour drive ahead of me Saturday morning, to reach my destination of a bonfire deep in the heart of Amish country by 7:00 p.m. Saturday night. I then drive another couple of hours home after the bonfire, making for at least ten hours on the road and an incredibly long stretch with little rest. Thus, computer access will be understandably sketchy / uncertain through Sunday, though I'll do my best to check in. As for how this affects the RP, please feel welcome to go on ahead with the action and continue your fine job as you have been doing, and I'll have Gandalf reappear and fit in with the action as best I can. Orofacion of the Vanyar: The meeting between Bethberry and myself was truly a most rewarding meeting of friends. One never knows the door to which one's road might lead. Thank you so much for your invitation, you do me honor. * bows * As a matter of fact, two of my relatives are visiting North Carolina as we speak. How's that for an almost-coincidence? Birdland: While visiting relatives today, we happened to be taking a drive and passed a pet shop called "Birdland." As for the meeting between Bethberry and myself, it was indeed an in-person meeting. ~~ Gandalf the Grey [ July 06, 2002: Message edited by: Gandalf_theGrey ] |

I wish you a safe journey, friend Gandalf.
Although how you expect 'me' not to notice that 'you' have gone missing with a former wraith's horse, I don't know! Particularly since your Ranger's poem has the rhythm and beat of a horse's stride. I'll just have to wait to work that into the RP. *shakes head with a smile and some wonderment* Bethberry [ July 06, 2002: Message edited by: Bethberry ]
