Hmm....it was Maedhros but I realised the same thing could apply to Feanor too, so it would be awfully pedantic for me to deny you the thread....*evil grin*. You're up .

Oh my gosh I finally got it! Took me long enough... you know the ironic thing about that is that was one of my first guesses but I didn't think it was right so I didn't put it! Hmmm... that means I have to write a haiku...

I've got it...
I know it, and I didn't think it was too confusing.
It's the Arkenstone "It was like a globe with a thousand faces; it shone like silver in the firelight, like water in the sun, like snow under the stars, like rain upon the Moon!" (The Hobbit, Chapter XII Inside Information) so it is "Shining as sunlight,/and with the light of the stars," and "They buried Thorin deep beneath the Mountain, and Bard laid the Arkenstone upon his breast." (The Hobbit, Chapter XVIII The Return Journey) so that it's "now kept in the deep" hmm...I guess this means I've got to come up with a Haiku...give me a day or so, I'll have one by then. Many Thanks.

hmm..
On second thought I guess it was rather hasty to assume I'm right. Sorry about that, it just seemed so clear that doubt (and common sense) couldn't make themselves heared over "Eurika!".
I apologise for assuming myself correct, and I'll wait for you to respond. Many Thanks

Alrighty then...
Thanks.
Well...keeping with the string of potentially confusing Haikus, I feel this one to be a bit criptic...the only clue I feel I should give is that a lot of the phrases come straight from the book. Gnawed, maimed, mocked are you By the violent maggot-folk As day sinks you rise Good Luck!

A red sun rises...
The Sun? That's probably not it though, so I asks for a hint. And if that isn't nice enough I begs.

A hint
No need to beg, but it makes me feel powerful
Alright for I hint I'll tell you that it A) the first two lines refer to an object B) the third line refers to an event (yes you probably could guess this...but still) and C) both are known/associated with a place It may not help a lot...but the three (object, event, place) are so usually spoken of as one that they're almost indistinguishable from each other...so if you hear the place name you'll probably immediately think of the object and event and likewise should you hear of the object or event.
