Congratulations!! This is wonderful news! I hope all is going well. Are these the first Hedgethistle children?

Another obvious Tolkien choice would be Elladan and Elrohir. Here is something I personally like, for girls and a bit Hobbitish yet modern Brooke and Meadow.

Yay!
Mnogaya Leta. Congratulations. May they blossom and grow and run in green fields and walk in enchanted forests and come out having defeated the witch and captured the treasure, as the happy tales go.
Moxie and Pepsi are good twin names, not to mention the fact that they hail from the underrated Bored of the Rings. Another good one is Eagle and Child. Or, if you want to go casual, Bird and Baby. Seriously though, congrats, and good luck. My mum has an identical twin, they're loads of fun. And sometimes they're not so fun, but we won't get into that. Their names, if you're interested, are Tatiana and Natalia. Cheers!

Congratulations, Fordim!!!
Clearly I have been gone too long! Fordim, I have no idea when you'll see this post, as you and the missus are probably still in the throes of sleep deprivation and in no state to check messages. But accept my heartfelt wishes of good and joyful lives for your new babes.
For a boy and a girl: Hopwell and Heather? For two girls: Rose and Lila, Esmerelda and Pearl, or to go back in Hobbit history, Belladonna and Miradonna. For two boys: Merry and Pippin, or Frodo and Samwise...I know, so obvious, but how could we pass up the opportunity? In view of the rarity of twins among Hobbit-kind, I think they deserve more than the run-of-the-mill in the selection of their names. Perhaps something a bit grander? Girl and boy: Hareth and Haldir Elenna and Elfwine Eomer and Eowyn Girls Rian and Morwen Arwen and Luthien Elenna and Eressea Boys Hador and Halmir Huor and Tuor Holdwine and Elfwine

We've decided to go with Inky and Stinky but thank you all for the suggestions.

Inky and Stinky, eh? And here I'd have guessed Slinker and Stinker.
My sincerest congratulations, Papa Hedgethistle, if I've not given them before now.

But Samwise means "halfwit" .... you would really want to call your son that?

But that'd just be mean. I've always loved the name Rosie, because no one will ever know it's origins unless you choose to tell them!

Announcement of an addition to the Saucepan clan
Sorry to hijack this thread, but it made sense to use it rather than starting a new thread.
The Saucepan clan has just become the proud owner of a Black Labrador puppy named Frodo (Mrs Saucepan's choice, not mine).

I don't think Rosie is necessarily a role model I would wish to give any daughter of mine ...would have to have "Marie" and "Stopes" as middle names......

Oh well. Looks like photobox won't let me display the pictures. Must be a bandwidth thing.
Edit: Managed to resize the photos so I could upload them.

Hermmm....if the Ring has forsaken the Pup then he was clearly misnamed. Isildur or even *shudder* Smeagol may have been more appropriate!

hmmm.....i like the names:
Girls: Aeryn (where does it come from? it's pretty) Arien Arwen (lovely name) Elenna Elanor (I really like that name.) Eowyn (I AM nuts. How to pronounce it?) Estel sounds like a good girls name. hm. Laurel Lorien Luthien Miriel Morwen (Steelsheen. I'd probably not name my girl that, though. ) Rosie how to pronounce Tinuviel? just wondering...... Boys: I'm boring, I'd probably name my boys ordinary names or something. |

I got slagged enough in my school for having an Irish name I'd hate to be a kid called Frodo...

Any of you who have followed my posts for long knows that I have a veritable army (OK, a small special-forces unit) of cats who share my home. I cannot be called their owner, because as everyone knows, cats are the rulers of all they survey. (Dogs have owners -- cats have staff.) My daughter, nearing the age of independence and preparing to move out, wishes to take two of our cats with her, both solid black.
She wants to call them Morgoth and Sauron.

Bb, it's a renaming thing. However, as far as sheer numbers of cats we are way down off our personal-best (which, if I recall correctly, was 23 ). We're in single digits now.
