Well I was going to cop out, type up something random with no names deliberately included by me and let you all sweat... but since there's no pressure, I guess I'll spend all weekend with Volume XIII of HoME and the OED.....

*bump*
I rather liked this quiz way back when I was a bit more active in this forum... So perhaps it's time to revive the thread.
There is a code, or rather a key to this riddle. To find it go though elms' shadows, towards south. Amass gold, wine and other luxuries if you don't want to celebrate your find with ale. The end. Enjoy!

Haleth is in there.
Are you going to tell us how many we have to find?

Well done, both words (Helm & Haleth) are correct.
But there's still 3 to be found.

What about Oldwine and Deor? I'm relatively sure I made the first one up, not sure about the second!

Yes yes, keep up the good work!
Goldwine was one that I was thinking about, and Deor is correct, of course. Now, one to go...

Oops, Otho was unintentional.
All the names (or rather characters) found so far are closely related - and so is the last one.

Hama is indeed right answer - well done, Thinlómien.
Now, whose turn is it?

I have no idea - I've never played this game before. But I'd suggest giving it to Eönwë as he found most of the names...

A Nazgul more powerful than Sauron or has a fierce leg or monstrous head is not possible. But if it's ear end Ilmarë touches it is too tall as well.
The second sentence doesn't really make sense (But this is my first time ever playing this game).

Ok, I think that's it. A nice easy "chestnut", so to speak.
I was only thinking of Ulmo, Celegorm and Earendil, so I think it goes to Kath.
