This answer is eiher totally lame or totally brilliant

Its has to do with escape, measured in days in relation to the destruction of the Ring!

10 days before the destruction of the Ring: Frodo and Sam escapes from the Tower of Cirith Ungol

25 days before the destruction of the Ring: Merry & Pippin escapes from the Uruk-hai

32 days before the destruction of the Ring: Gandalf escapes from the peak of Zirak-Zigil by aid of Gwaihir.

Absolutely brilliant, and I'm afraid not what I was after.

It's to do with groups of people.

Is the Council of Elrond related to the answer ?

*doubts it*

EDIT: there were 25 in the company that went with Gandalf to Isengard after the battle of Helm's Deep. "We want man-food for twenty-five," the Ents said, so you can see that somebody had counted your company carefully before you arrived. (Merry)

In any one of the groups, only a handful of them might have been gathered into one place at one time.

So they might be inter-generational "groups" - like a line of kings or something . . .

Fairly exactly like a line of kings. The number of monarchs of Númenor, Arnor and Gondor (before the coming of Envinyatar), actually.

Play on, Master of Doom.

Just a quick question: it seems like the guesses for the last question were more like Odd One Out guesses rather than One Thing in Common like the game is called... Am I just confused here?

Duh!

Of course you're right, Firefoot, we're the confused ones here.
So that means I'm overlooking Lindo's answer, and everyone is welcome to guess at my riddle. If you can explain your answer, the thread is yours!

Hahaha! I feel so silly. Uhhh... it was NightKnight who made me do it!
Well if you use the loophole in my last answer (hehehe) you can count Gandalf's forgetting his way at the three doors, you might be able to say the Hobbits were lost in Moria. So these were all places in which Hobbits were lost!

They all had something to do with the Elves?

Anduril = (re)made by an elf (Elrond)

Elessar = elvish name given to Aragorn by Galadriel

Narya = one of the three elvish rings

No, wait! I was just thinking about this one.

Is it that all of them chose to end their lives by their own will? Well, Gandalf didn't actually die, but still what he did was sort of like a suicide mission.

since you already have two perfectly good answers you can decide yourself whether you want to continue or pose a new question.

What I was thinking of was that they each have an equivalent character in the Kalevala (surprise surprise Kalevala again! ) . Gandalf could be Väinämöinen, Túrin and Kullervo are similar as are Nienor and Marjatta (Kullervos sister).
But anyway, good job Evisse. take the thread.
