Welcome to The Barrow Downs. That post of the FAQs actually answered my question of yours, newcomer. So, we are being reincarnated so to speak?
(I apologize for calling you "newcomer", but that name of yours is a bit hard to spell and, call me lazy, but I hate looking back and forth.) Nonetheless, welcome. Last edited by The Lord of Chaos; 11-06-2004 at 04:05 PM. |

Welcome, Gorgonzola and Lhunithiliel! (simple solution to that hard-to-spell name problem, Lord of Chaos: copy and paste!)
Hope you all enjoy being dead. Cheers!

Harry Potter was ok. I much liked the books, they were fun. The movies...well let's just say...there will be no movie that is made after a book as good as The Lord of the Rings, in my opinon.

Welcome all, to the most wonderful Barrowdowns. May your stay be prolonged and educational, as well as... FUN. If you are into the craziness, dig your way over to Mirth. A Bookworm? Tunnel on over to the Books Forum. Movies fan? We've a Movies section!
Yes, yes... I do love this site. Something for everything really. Once again, welcome to all "newbies", have fun, and if you have any questions, check the FAQ, or PM someone... most of us "oldsters" answer PMs pretty derned quick. Fea

The so difficult to spell name of Lhunithiliel
I know, I know....
It is difficult to spell! But you can use the simple abbreviated form of Lhun. Now, I please ask the Moderators and the Administrators here to excuse me, but though I have tried to find the answer to my previous question in the FAQ- section, and although I am more or less familiar with how VB3 works, I still could not find the option of the sub-forum-name in order to change it. I don't see it in the Profile or elsewhere. But .... well.... after all... I'm in the Barrow-Downs now, am I not! So, I must be really 'newly deceased' to find myself here! And shall I say, that for a community of ghosts, you have a strikingly cheerful and pleasant welcoming team! THANK YOU once again! Hope to meet you soon in the discussion-threads. Lhun |

Newbie here. Tolkien fan for only a short time, liked the movies so much that I bought the books. I've read LOTR, The Hobbit, and im almost done with the Sil, but im going to have to reread that one again, and I have Lost Tales sitting on the shelf waiting to be read. Good autor, good movies, and this site seems friendly enough to post on. So with that said..

Welcome, Ancalagon-the-black! I sincerely hope you enjoy being dead.
Oh, dear, ruts, fifteen days of exams!??!?!??!?!? I'd never survive. Thankfully I don't have to! (one of the many benefits of being homeschooled.)

Hiya people
My name is katie and i've been reading the lord of the rings and other tolkien works for about five years now. My friends at school all think i am obsessed but i'm not. i find reading a welcome release from people at school who keep trying to put me down. I managed to read the lord of the the rings for the first time in under twelve hours but none seems to believe about that apart from one boy at school who bet he could read the Order of the Pheonix faster than me. It took him six days to read it whereas it took me 5 and a half hours. he still owes me £10. luv u White Lady of Sorrow xxxxxxx Last edited by white lady of sorrow; 11-13-2004 at 09:11 AM. Hello and welcome, white lady! Twelve hours, that's pretty impressive. I admit my first read took me much more than that... perhaps I should time myself now and see how long it takes me.
Hope to see you around the forums. |

Welcome White Lady! It's nice to see someone else from the North West - me too, although I have been in exile for 15 years across them thar hills. 12 hours to read LOTR is impressive - I took as long as possible, always do if I'm really enjoying a book.

Welcome Noinkling.
I wonder, does your name have reference to The Inklings -- the writing group that C.S Lewis and Tolkien joined?

Hi, Noinkling!

It is a reference to the Inklings.
My avatar is the pub sign for the 'Eagle & Child' (or The Bird and Baby as it's also known) where they met.

Noinkling - would that be no-inkling, or noink-ling. The latter is more fun to say, it must be said...One of those non-words that should be. Ahem. Welcome anyway, ye and your funky name.
White Lady - 10 quid on who could read a book faster?! You're making good money there, girl, I'm transfering to your school... Same as Lalwende, good to see another from the North West - can I ask where you're from? I'm Greater Manchester. Quote:
Lhunithiliel - I am definitely going to have problems with that one... Joking, welcome to the Barrowdowns, whatever your name may be! I hope to see a few of you in 'The Shire' maybe - RPGing is dangerously addictive but oddly satisfying, even if you haven't tried it before - I hadn't before I came to the Downs. Not...that I would ever plug...the Green Dragon Inn...*cough* ps. Fea: Good girl, you got there eventually

Actually, I thought of it in terms of "No inkling!" - as in, "I'm clueless!"

hehehe I just happened to see your name -- and apparently new too! Welcome!
I happen to have an "Inkling" in my name too only with an "elf" in which case it's probably an "elf with an idea" -- what a strange phenomenon eh? "No-inkling" is catchy -- I like it. |
