++Durin What does Durin really do, anyway? For one of the best known Dwarves, we really don't know much about him and what he did. |

++ DURIN
How important can he be if Durin's Day isn't even a national holiday in Eriador?

I want Gloin gone as well, but from a financial and entertainment perspective, Durin is the better candidate to go...he just creates no drama nor action, nor a reason for viewers to watch. Where Gloin and Smaug being the last two of their group will create for a much needed drama as the series winds down and a reason for people to continue watching.

Two dwarves and two dragons left. I'd say we go for the second dragon next and the second dwarf thereafter.
++Smaug Though I will happily join a Chrysophylax waggon (or anything else that looks fun, to be honest) if this won't get working. PS: Did I just screw up a double eviction? Nogrod had 9-9, Wilwa 9-7 and I had 9-8. I demand a recount! |

++Goldberry!
Come on, people, do you all want her to win or something? She's happy being kidnapped, she's everything in a female character that a lot of you are professing to hate. You got rid of Tar-Miriel, you want to get rid of Celebrian (at least there actually is some scope for fanfiction here - Goldberry's so dull that there really isn't any), but Goldberry hardly gets any attention at all. But you're all yammering about dragons now - aren't dragons much more interesting than Goldberry? Don't they do more? For all of you going on about show ratings, I would think that two fighting dragons would do more than quiet little Goldberry. |

Between him and Gimli, he's more useless. And the dragons are a lot more impressive.

Like I said, her only claim to fame was getting captured while foolishly wandering the wilderness of Middle-Earth.

+ + Goldberry
How many times do we have to say it? Goldberry is a bad example to all young girls and should be the most reviled character here. Tolkien didn't write enough about Celebrian to make her look as bad as Goldberry. Celebrian may need to go and I'll vote for her should her bandwagon look more likely to succeed, but it's more fair to get this simpering example of domestic brainlessness out of the way first. Also, with all the complaining about interesting characters and bad guys going first, why leave Goldberry around? She's everything interesting is not. Plus, she's from the MW for all you haters out there. She's the perfect candidate.

Wilwa, shouldn't Celebrian be off as the vote was tied and Celebrian was the first to reach it?

morm, the vote was 9-8 -Durin receiving the most - (if I haven't recounted wrong 3 times). It was 9-8 with Celebrian having the most, but Mac retracted his vote for Celebrian and voted for Durin, which flips the score. (Good job Mac )

Yes, I see you all have kept with my wishes and my two dragon friends are still sitting where I left them. Now, on to business.
++Celebrian The only reason I'm picking her over Goldberry is that I know less about the Second Age than I do about Tolkien's Minor Works. I'm so logical, it's scary.

Due to Mac, Morm, and Boro's comments I checked over the thread.
Edit: Ignore what was posted here before. I recounted again and Morm actually was right. Unless I'm really missing something, the score should be: Celebrian: 8 Durin: 8 This is how it went (leader bolded) Menel > Gloin (Gloin 1) Gil > Elbereth (Gloin 1, Elbereth 1) Boro > Durin (Gloin 1, Elbereth 1, Durin 1) Morm > Goldberry (Gloin 1, Elbereth 1, Durin 1, Goldberry 1) Diamond > Goldberry (Gloin 1, Elbereth 1, Durin 1, Goldberry 2) Reader > Celebrian (Gloin 1, Elbereth 1, Durin 1, Goldberry 2, Celebrian 1) LMP > Gloin (Gloin 2, Elbereth 1, Durin 1, Goldberry 2, Celebrian 1) Esty > Celebrian (Gloin 2, Elbereth 1, Durin 1, Goldberry 2, Celebrian 2) Mac > Gimli (Gloin 2, Elbereth 1, Durin 1, Goldberry 2, Celebrian 2, Gimli 1) Bethberry > Celebrian (Gloin 2, Elbereth 1, Durin 1, Goldberry 2, Celebrian 3, Gimli 1) SPM > Celebrian (Gloin 2, Elbereth 1, Durin 1, Goldberry 2, Celebrian 4, Gimli 1) Diamond < Goldberry > Celebrian (Gloin 2, Elbereth 1, Durin 1, Goldberry 1, Celebrian 5, Gimli 1) Mac < Gimli > Celebrian (Gloin 2, Elbereth 1, Durin 1, Goldberry 1, Celebrian 6) Kuru > Celebrian (Gloin 2, Elbereth 1, Durin 1, Goldberry 1, Celebrian 7) Firefoot > Goldberry (Gloin 2, Elbereth 1, Durin 1, Goldberry 2, Celebrian 7) Nogrod > Durin (Gloin 2, Elbereth 1, Durin 2, Goldberry 2, Celebrian 7) Menel < Gloin > Durin (Gloin 1, Elbereth 1, Durin 3, Goldberry 2, Celebrian 7) Gil < Elbereth > Celebrian (Gloin 1, Durin 3, Goldberry 2, Celebrian 8) Glirdan > Durin (Gloin 1, Durin 4, Goldberry 2, Celebrian 8) Firefoot < Goldberry > Durin (Gloin 1, Durin 5, Goldberry 1, Celebrian 8) Celuien > Durin (Gloin 1, Durin 6, Goldberry 1, Celebrian 8) Morm < Goldberry > Celebrian (Gloin 1, Durin 6, Celebrian 9) LMP < Gloin > Durin (Durin 7, Celebrian 9) Mac < Celebrian > Durin (Durin 8, Celebrian 8) Edit: changed to: So either Celebrian should have gone instead of Durin or they both should have gone.

I would suggest that everyone voting for Celebrian consider voting Goldberry instead, as I think Celebrian is techincally already gone. Just in case Wilwa decides to evict her retroactively and your votes end up counting for nothing.

The three way beauty contest between Elbereth, Goldberry, and Celebrian has to come to an end soon. Quite honestly Celebrian is the least beautiful of the three and as the mother of Arwen, just needs to go...

Is there enough support for Goldberry tomorrow? If so I will change my vote to Celebrian today to help ensure victory but we need to go for Goldberry tomorrow.

I wouldn't mind losing Goldberry, Elbereth is far more eye-popping and attracting. So the role of the hot gal that just gets the tough guys to do everything for her is already filled.

Really, in the long run, she wed Tom and had no effect on any life other than his. True, the hobbits saw her and thought her pretty, but it didn't affect their experience in his home or the events of their quest. And I happen to really like Celebrian.

Umm, Goldberry's washing day allowed the hobbits stay a day longer with Tom. Respite has a value of its own--solace--even if it doesn't create action drama and heart thumping excitement. Not that I'm commenting on today's vote. I'm still mulling over things. Are we going to end up with the Eagle being champion? *shakes head*

Though I wanted her out in the past, the size of the current Celebrian-waggon is downright frightening. I feel the need to add a true alternative, and I don't see Goldberry as one.
