I got mine from a hobbit name generator website, it's very good. It also says what part of the Shire you're from (I'm from Brockenborings). If I can find the link I'll post it here.

I got my nickname from an Elvish name generator, but I looked up Alatįriel, and I found it was an ancient form of Galadriel...

Mine is actually a fangirl's nightmare. "Wolv" comes from "Wolverine" of X-Men fame. "Aur" comes from "Auron" of Final Fantasy X. "Ryn" is, obviously, from my online handle "Rynoah" and I think the "omir" part is pretty self-explanitory. It actually started out as "Wolveryn", evolved to "Wolvauryn" and I finally tacked on an "omir" for spite.
This also explains my signature: "For Gondor and the fallen, bub!" [ June 25, 2003: Message edited by: Wolvaurynomir ]

Mine is a combination of elvish and English and it means 'odd maiden'. (Odd girl?) It just popped into my head while my brother and I were thinking of an online name for ourselves.

Mine's from Celtic mythology: Arianrod was a goddess who, according to my book at least, was believed by some to be the moon itself. I absolutly love the moon (as you can see if you look at my website), I think it's the most beautiful thing visible from Earth, and love Celtic mythology, so it was a two-birds-with-one-stone kind of thing. And I think the name itself has a nice ring to it; kinda rolls off the tongue.

You could guess the origin of my name, but you'd be wrong, sort of. At the point at which I created it, I hadn't read the Silm yet, so I had no clue as to whom Feanor was. But my name came off a list of Elvish names and meanings:
Fiery Spirit of the Half Elven Fea

I got my name from a name generator. How original! I like the name Daisy and 'brambleburr' just seemed to fit. Very hobbitish. Actually, I'd like to change it to 'Hollin' but I can't boo!

Mine simply means 'princess of the moon'. I just put to Elvish words together. I was pondering over a nick so I picked 'Tarien Ithil out of sheer desperation!

I have a weird but true story to tell...(don't worry, it's short)
Before I learned any elvish I was thinking about how elvish names mean something (Legolas=greenleaf, for example) and I decided I wanted my name to mean starfire. I write fantasy sometimes and have trouble coming up with names for my characters, so whwnever I come up with a good name I write it down so I don't forget. one of the names I had come up with (and my favorite at the time) was Elinar. Then I found out that elen means star and nar means fire, so I put them together to get Elennar=starfire. I was sort of freaked out because I had already come up with Elinar and they're so similar. When I was new to this fandom I fangirlled the Witch-King and one day, while reading the books, I found that he was referred to as the Morgul-Lord, mis-read it as Morgul-King and thought 'A King has to have a Queen...Oooh I could be a Queen!' Hence the name...
I dropped the Queen long ago on the other sites and forums I'm on, but most people refer to me as Morgy now. Actually, that's an weird one too. One of my mates on another site I'm on, The PPC Board...well, it was chat at the time, goes by the name of Morgoth and used to have the nick-name of 'Morgy'. When I became his minion (It was an all out war against Merry and Pippin and any who brought up the new-found and dreaded pairing of Varda/Morgoth and everyone was claiming minions. Varda was not impressed) he gave me the nick-name of Morgy because he hated it and wanted to torture me for not B-ZIP!-ing the hobbits fast enough. *grins* Then we started calling him 'Melkie'. So you really have a variaty of names to call me by. Morgul, Morgy, Morg, 'Hey You!', and 'What on earth do you think you're doing!!!'.

EarthBound has many meanings to me.....I'm a soil scientist and work closely with natural resource conservation . . . very tied to the Earth and all
I've always wanted to travel space (my first movie ever was StarWars at the drive-in Theater in 1977 in the front of my family's yellow Ford pickup...sigh) so with that in mind I heard the song Fly by Pink Floyd and there's the line about being an earth bound missfit....and I went Oh Yeah, That's Me!! So...I'm tied to the Earth, for good or bad, but I try to save it each day (professionaly) for all of us... |

haha. Um...I actually picked mine b/c I love elves. However, many of my friends and family are in LOTR and I didn't want them to know that I am, well, myself. So, since I hate being referred to as chick, I figured, "Hey, they'll never guess that." Thus it remains.

I chose Deagol because he had the courage to befriend someone who probably didn't deserve to have any friends, and for that he was punished -- just as many of us are here in this world.

What is the reason for your nickname ?
The reason?
'Cos Billy-Bob jes' aint Medal-earthy enuff -- if'n y'all get mah meanin'. *Smirks* Ummm...no, actually 'Morthoron(TM)' was created for an online role-play story back in 1998. It seems to have stuck thereafter.

Reason... do names have a reason...?
Mine came about because I was sick and tired of joining Tolkien-based groups only to have anything vaguely akin to a name I liked long gone. And because on another forum, I had threatened to use Ibrīnišilpathānezel because it was one Tolkien derived name nobody else would use. If they could remember how to spell and type it. (I barely can, and then only in a word processor. Copy and paste, there's my motto. )

I just chose it because it had a nice ring to it, if you know what I mean. Well, that and all the other good names were taken. It's not easy to find to find something from LOTR that hasn't been used.
There's no special significance to it though, I don't have a Pippin fetish. |
