Odin gave the sword to Sigmund as a wedding present. It broke as Sigmund died in battle and was subsequently reforged by Sigurd and Regin the Dwarf. Sigurd then used the sword to slay the dragon Fafnir and recover the Nibelungen treasure. </p> |
