Tom Bombadil & Color Symbolism – A New Approach
A new set of essays on Tom & Goldberry appear to be in the process of being unleashed. The first is now available:
https://priyasethtolkienfan.wordpres...colorful-pair/ The author has began to look at the episode in terms of color symbolism not ever discussed before. In particular - deliberate contrivance by Tolkien to exploit “green as a fairy color”. If there really are five essays – then the discussion is in its infancy – with obviously much more to come. |

The theme continues with Part II focusing in on Tom's 'blue' and 'yellow' colors coded to result in 'green'. The proposal is that Tom started out as a 'fairy being'. The rationalization is that Tolkien subtly alluded to this in his On Fairy-stories paper.
