Did Celebrimbor have any close assitants? wife, children, family, etc? when did he die, and why? and most inpertantly: WHY DID HE MAKE THE THREE? these answers are prolly written down somewhere, but i cant find them

ooooooooooo I dont like how Celebrimbor was tormented *shudder*
Question: why is it that evil things feel the need to torment creatures? sometime it may be for imformation but other times just for the pure joy of tormenting! it just horrible, HORRIBLE

In UT, it was mentioned that Celebrimbor loved Galadriel and even made the greenstone, Elessar for her, even though she chose Celeborn! (I like him too! Celeborn the Wise!) The Elessar was given to Celebrian, who gave it to Arwen… who gave it to Aragorn. Quote:
He fought bravely until he was overcome by Sauron’s forces who eventually dragged him to their Master. He was then tortured but would not reveal the Three Rings location. He was then killed and his broken body was hung on a pole, like a banner. This was done to dishearten Celebrimbor’s allies. Quote:
His main purpose was probably to aid them (the elves) and preserve their works, as well as to protect. Wherever the rings were, there was a certain “power” that preserved that place (e.g. Lothlorien and Imladris). As Kuruharan mentioned, you can get more from Unfinished Tales as well as The Silmarillion. The Encyclopedia of Arda is a great source too! Here’s the URL, if you don’t know it yet - http://www.glyphweb.com/arda Quote:

Yah, it is kind of sad that Feanor's kin dies with Celebrimbor. They were great smiths, and if Celebrimbor had a son, he would certainly become a great elf. Maybe an idea for a fanfic?

celebrimbor made the three in secret by himself. He was the leader of a group of craftsmen called the Gwaith-i-Mirdain. Sauron aided him in the crafting of the nine and the other lesser rings. When celebrimbor realized sauron had foregd the one, he gave two rings to Gil-galad and one to Galadriel. Sauron, wanting information on the location of the three rings, sent a company to celebrimbors house captured him along with the nine rings. sauron tortured celebrimbor for informaiton on the htree but he wouldnt tell him so he executed him. Before the last alliance, Gil-galad gave the Blue Ring to Elrond Halfelven. Hope this has helped you.
Thanks. |

and also, there are different versions of the family of celebrimbor. The more accepted one is he was the son of curufin and stayed in nargothrond after his father and uncle left. the other is that he was a survivor of the destruction of Gondolin.
