I was just wondering, when Gandalf calls
Shadowfax, he says that they have been through
many adventures together, than why in the
first movie Gandalf rides to Isengard on a
different horse ? where was Shadowfax than ?

Although the movie excluded this fact, it was actually several years between the time that Gandalf left Bag End after the party and when he returned to Hobbiton. I can't remember any specific events, but I think Gandalf did more than just go to Isengard, sit on a pinnacle for a while, then go to Gondor, read a bit, then return.
[ January 04, 2003: Message edited by: Nevfeniel ]
