Recent Activity in THE BOOKS

Wraith of Angmar
Posts: 2069

The Barrow-Downs forum has 292 registered members. I thought it would be interesting to see just how many of those memebers are truly active. So I went back and tallied activity in the last 10 days (16-25 March 2001). I only looked in THE BOOKS. In the last ten days 43 members have posted in 30 topics in THE BOOKS. Not including me, those 42 members average 200 total posts since they first joined the board. Their total combind posts are 8410, 51% of the boards total of 16429. That means 14% of our members are active (in the last 10 days) and have provided over half of our posts (since the baord was founded). Of the 42 active members, eight had less than 10 posts total and 21 have over 100 posts (11 of those over 250). Wow ! A lot of people enjoy reading what other people say, only occasionally putting in a remark here and there. My 'Wow' was actually a positive one. 42 active members is not bad at all. I remember when the board has 42 members total! I can only check in here 2 or 3 times a week now, and then only for a brief time because of my work schedule (not to mention I have a wife and 4 kids). I enjoy just reading the different topics/comments and chatting for a bit.
|

For those of us who like LotR, but dont know lots of the little details that are discussed, the forum is a good way to learn more about the books. Just wanted to say thanks for creating something so great!!
|

I don't know Quenya, or any other ME language, I've only read the Silmarillion twice, and I have yet to finish the UT. You, on the other hand, truly are a student of the work. All hail the Tolkien Geeks, who are desperately trying to catch up on their reading! -*-The X Phial-*- You must believe in free will, you have no choice. Isaac Singer

I don't post all the time though. As was stated above (!) many times someone else has said what I would have on a subject. That just indicates how active this board really is compared to some of the corpses out there, where there have not been new posts for months. Those who will defend authority against rebellion must not themselves rebel.

The third thing to consider if you are not posting very often is that you want to continue to enjoy this board and not burn out. And I can only add my thanks to R. Kittle for making this board what it is today.
|
