I think the best ideas can be found in the heraldry of Middle-Earth. What about -a skull moon -a white hand -a silver tree on black -a white horse on green -a winged sun...
But as for the last two... how about a gleaming sword pointing upwards (Ringil, Sting etc.) for &quot;thumbs up&quot;, and a rusty blade pointing downwards for the opposite?

Not a bad idea with the swords. I can probably do that. The heraldry symbols would probably be beyond my abilities. Especially when creating such small images. But I'll mess around and see what I come up with. Thanks, Sharku.

Maybe I´m too picky, but the Eye would be even better if its pupil was narrow and vertical like a cat´s eye.

As for the blue Palantír, it could be changed to be the Palantír of Mithlond which looks towards the Sea - not much to change from the current version.

The palantir of the Tower Hills looked only towards the Undying Lands. Here you can catch just a glimpse of Elwing's lonely tower set far to the north of Aman.

Now shame on you, galpsi. Let's keep the Amy bashing to Planet Tolkien <img src=smile.gif ALT=""> I read your posts there and am interested to see if she replies. I am sure she will. She seem pretty self-confident and willing to discuss/argue her point. We'll see.

As for the 'little things', I meant those darned little posticon images. I had to fit the entire Undying Lands into that tiny blue globe. Not my fault if it's hard to see.

I am at a total loss of the posticon to use when posting something to do with Morgoth. What about his mace Grond, the Hammer of the Underworld.
And for the elves, I am using the glowing Sting too much. Narya, Neny and Vilya did not exist for much of the elves history, so what about a Silmaril?

Would the Ship of Elendil in minature be too hard?

There are only 8 positions available for Posticons. If I were to make more I's have to get rid of some of those I have. Perhaps I could replace the Blue Palantir - nobody uses it.

I think that you shouldn't take any posticons off (except the black Palantir), but instead rotate them around every few days. Would that be possible? Would that be conventional? Is this a good idea?

I like cool posticons as much as anyone, but you have to wonder: what do they mean? What does it mean if I'm using this bloody sword icon? The default of happy faces, sad faces, up and down thumbs, etc., while visually dull are actually more accurate indicators of feelings <img src=wink.gif ALT=""> .

I believe that he is suffering from that which is legitimately referred to as second-hand smoke. Or is it acute pollution? Where's that damned bear in the hat when you need him? Probably sleeping at Dunedain's Camp or lost in the Old etc.
