The Gaffer???
You know what - I think I spotted the Gaffer in the background of RotK in the scene where Sam returns from the Grey Havens and Elanor comes running out to him - well if you'll notice there are two Hobbits standing by the fence talking and one of them looks like the Gaffer to me - or at least what little I can make out of the two background Hobbits!

Has anyone else spotted these two Hobbits?

It could have been the Gaffer, or just another couple of Hobbits leaning by the fence and talking. I'm sure that there were plenty of those standing around.

I don't think that it was Gaffer in the background, though I did see the hobbits in the Fellowship during the party. I'm not quite sure who it was.

Well, to me it certainly looked like the Gaffer but I could be wrong...

There's a lot of those type of scence's in the movies..Like when Aragorn, Gandalf, Legolas, and Eomer go to the black gates of Gondor to summon them out to battle...they show Gandalf on his horse with I think it's Pipins stunt double(It an azn women) I remember because I saw her in Sam's Commradory film. She played the uhh "physically challenged" women trying to help Barry Osbourne with the big poster, does anyone know what I am talking about, or am I just blabbering on, like I usually do?

I assumed that it was Gaffer.

The Gaffer is in the Extended Edition of Fellowship, the scene at The Green Dragon. (In fact, he also gets a credit at the end of the movie...and I don't mean the actor that played him! Meaning, the credit labled "gaffer")

James, yes, you are blathering. These people have names...do try to use them.
Sean Astin's film featured Khun Fon, an actress from Thailand. She is a "little person" and there's no reason to say "uhh...physically challenged." Andrew Lesnie, the cinematographer on the LOTR movies, played the painter with the aching back. Paul Randall plays the very tall gentleman who helps him put up his poster and Fon plays the little person who helps him with the other end of the poster.
I don't recall seeing Barrie Osborne in the film but I could be mistaken. You did recognize the bus driver...right?

I think it would be really cool to get on a bus, sit down, and then notice PJ was driving. Hee hee. Before the film if I recall correctly Sean talks about the 'late Gaffer'. Who did he mean exactly?

Silmiel: You do know when I say "The Gaffer" I am referring to Hamfast Gamgee aka Sam's father, right?
I am not referring to one crew who worked on the behind the scenes part of the movies...
[ 3:47 PM January 30, 2004: Message edited by: Arathiriel ]

Yes I realize that but since the short film was brought up I decided to ask if anyone knew who Sean was talking about. As for ROTK I really didn't notice who was standing there, all hobbits tend to idle so I really didn't pay them any mind.
