ROTK Trailer
Does any one know when the ROTK trailer will be added on to TTT? There are still some theaters that show it and they don't know when that version will be sent to them

Meela, I think she is talking about the special trailer, like the one that they attached to FOTR last year.
All I have heard is that there is probably going to be one, but I have not heard a date. Last year the TTT one came out after the Oscars (about the end of March), I would expect the ROTK one to come out a little earlier, maybe the beginning of March.
Though I think there is already a thread on this topic.

sorry, didnt know there was one...
i assumed it was the trailer at the end of fotr just before the credits came up that they added on. if theres a different one, please let me know. also, my dating is seriously untrustable, so ignore whatever i said in my previous post on the matter of dates

I would think that it would be out sometime in late March. I'm trying to remember when the special trailer was added last year, and all I can think is that is was fairly cold. So I'm thinking around March or April.

It better be soon because TTT is slowing down at the box office quicker than FOTR did.

From what I remember, the special TTT trailer came out last on either the last week of March or the first week of April. The ROTK trailer will probably come out around the same time. The date will be announced soon, I'm sure. Just keep your eyes and ears open.

quote:
It better be soon because TTT is slowing down at the box office quicker than FOTR did.

Yes, I've noticed that too. But that could be because everyone saw it when it first came out. People are more eager to see TTT because it's continuing FOTR. They want to find out what happened to everyone in FOTR right away. Most of my friends did not see FOTR until several months after it came out. But then they saw TTT within the first two weeks it came out.
When the ROTK trailer does come out, I'm sure TTT will do better at the box office.

Well, all our hopes of a ROTK trailer after TTT are dashed, according to this story
New Line: 'No Plans for ROTK trailer behind TTT'
Though, the reason could be is that New Line is planning to put a theatrical trailer in front of another movie, much, much earlier than they did last year. Well I hope they come out with a ROTK trailer soon, because I really want to see what they are planning for that film.
[ February 26, 2003: Message edited by: Gorwingel ]

I hate it when studios do this. Attach a trailer in front of a movie so that the drooling, rabid fans of the movie in the trailer will pay money to see the trailer, even if the movie is awful.
... but I didn't go see Daredevil just for the X2 trailer. No. No, I did not.
(Note: I did like Daredevil. It wasn't all that bad. And then the day after I saw it, they put the X2 trailer online. Let's hope, hmm?)

Well that's just stupid. They would get so much more money if they put it at the end of TTT.

Taken from www.aint-it-cool-news.com. This is a response from Peter Jackson to Harry Knowles, the main guy over there, when asked about the trailer rumours. Harry is a credible source.
Hi Harry,
None of these stories have any truth.
As far as I'm aware the first ROTK trailer will hit cinemas about May or June.
We're not doing a ROTK trailer for the end of Two Towers like we did last year. The reason is that the TT extended DVD has been so complex this year, it would have taken too many resources away from trying to get that finished.
The FOTR extended cut had 35 extra CG shots - the TT extended cut has over 150. Weta are plowing through those, plus starting ROTK. We have a huge TT extended cut sound mix in a few weeks. It's all very complex and we deemed an early ROTK trailer as simply too much to take on this time around.
I am loving cutting ROTK! Very happy.
Cheers,
Peter J

Well, If we can't have the special ROTK trailer, I hope this TTT extended edition is really good if they are spending all this time on it.

quote:
The reason is that the TT extended DVD has been so complex this year ...

Hmm, that's interesting. It seems to bode well. Perhaps the extended DVD will redress some of those changes that have caused such an uproar.

Ah, I understand now. Good for them! I'd rather they work on the TT DVD than a RotK trailer.
*waits patiently for the DVD*

I wonder when that DVD will be out? One thing about "The Fellowship" DVD, they put the regular one out and then, months later, the extended edition. I waited and bought that one. But I'm hoping they don't do that again. Just bring out the extended edition, and soon!

*sob* I hate it when my hopes are dashed. But you know, maybe they'll put the ROTK trailer in movies with LOTR stars in them. Like, I know Viggo is doing Disney Animation (Thats a conundrum!) and Orlando will be in 4 upcoming movies before ROTK. WE can only hope.
