If You Could Change The Script
Suilad to All,
I do not know if this subject has been on already, but I did check with Search and found nothing.
In the movies if you were the Director or the Script Writers how would you have changed the movie's, would you have altered them or made them even more like the books.
Not that Peter Jackson hasn't done a brilliant job on all 3 movies, just that we all would like to sit in the Directors Chair and be able to change the scene.
"What Scene would you change! and Why?"
In The Lord Of The Rings "The Fellowship Of The Ring" I would have included some from the First book the Hobbit, a bit of a lead up explaining how the Rings were made and to see Smeagol before he became Gollum and ended up with the one ring for all that time before Bilbo found it, and claimed it as his own.
Also more scene's of how the elves lived in Riverdell and Lothlórien.
milui galu - LadyMeg

If I could change the script, the film would have to be in ten three-hour parts instead of three. No-one would fund it so it would never be made.
Maybe that's why Peter Jackson got the job instead of me.

I would get rid of the "You have my axe, sword" etc and also most of Gimli's humour.

It's impossible to guess how I would have worked to make the story fit the movie screen.
What I do know is what suggestions I would have about changes in the script of PJ et. al.
I would have no further suggestions for the FOTR script, since it was well done, and I was surprised and very impressed.
In the TTT script I would cut all that irrelevant, sentimental Arwen cr*p and most of the 360 degrees landscape views, since those scenes add nothing to the story. Those 30-45 minutes saved would have been better spent on
1. the quarreling between the different Orc tribes in the gang carrying Merry and Pippin to Isengard
and
2. the Ents, the way their discussion and actions are portrayed in the original story, and the Huorns.
And, of course I would replace Boromir no. 2 with the real Faramir.
Anders

If Arwen had to be the one to save Frodo at the Ford, I would have taken out the corny "If you want him, come and claim him" line, and also her first line "A ranger caught off his guard", I'm not a real big fan of girl power.
Another thing that bothers me is the rock throwing scene at the gates of Moria. In the book, wasn't it Boromir, and not Pippin who was trying to throw stones? I know Pippin can be silly but he didn't need to be blamed for disturbing the water too!
[ February 11, 2003: Message edited by: Shy Hobbit ]

I'd make *Merry* find the way into Moria! ::sniff:: Stupid over-hyped Frodo. (j/k)
