Welcome to the Downs, blackburn! I think this topic may be moved to Novices and Newcomers, but we've all had it done. Enjoy being dead, like us!

Yes, I've read Smith of Wootton Major. One of his best works apart from M-e relating things.

"Smith of Wootton Major" is also discussed on the Autobiographical Tolkien thread - enjoy!

Hello everyone!
i have a little question to the lore-masters . is it true that in the "extended" edition of "Smith..." Nell's (his wife) hair colour was mentioned? |

I have the extended edition of "Smith", and I can't find any reference at all to Nell's appearance, nor that of any of the other characters.

Here it is: Smith EE
I'm sure we've discussed this in the past; it was published in 2005. Here's one thread that mentions it: New Tolkien books. It's edited by Verlyn Flieger and has new material, both by Tolkien himself and by her, including photocopies of some of Tolkien's original typed pages. The hardback is not cheap, but all those who have bought it so far (including myself) say it's worth it.
