Underappreciated Characters Fanclub
I noted that Legolas, Frodo and Boromir have fanclubs and we all know that Balrogs, Gandalf, Aragorn, Arwen, Gimli, Merry, Pippin, Sauron, Saruman, Dragons, and Sam are all loved, but what about the other characters?
I propose that this be the fanclub for the Huan, Emeldir, Bill the Pony, Vala, Eru, Melian, Thingol, Beren, Luthien, Nienor, Turin, Galadriel, Celeborn, Finwe (and descendants), Olwe (" "), Elwe (" "), Beor (" "), Hador (" "), Halmir (" "), and all the other underappreciated characters...

Personnaly, I'm a big fan of Queen Beruthiel's cats. And who doesn't think that Fatty Bolger would have made a great addition to the Fellowship?

Heheh! I hereby make a fanclub for Fëanor's sons. All of them.
And Fëanor, Eöl and Maeglin now that we're at it. Hmmm, I think I'll include Beleg and Gwindor as well.... [ November 09, 2002: Message edited by: Maikadilwen ]

Rae, you beat me to it . Anyone who could listen to everything Ioreth was saying and not beg her to be quiet deserved a medal.
Other characters...hmm..I'll say Elladan and Elrohir. Sons of Elrond, they have tons of adventures, risk their lives regularly pursuing and fighting Orcs, carry Arwen's = banner to Aragorn - wouldn't you say they probably have some pretty interesting tales to tell? But noooo - it's all about their father and their sister, isn't it . I don't think they have more than 3 lines total in the book, which is pretty poor considering their history. (Of course Arwen only has about 3 lines in the trilogy as well, but then she's a lead in "The Tale of Aragorn and Arwen" which makes up for it). So All Hail to the Elven-Twins. I just wish they'd gotten a chance to speak up more.

I thought about adding Glorfindel, but he's gained so much love and popularity after not being in the movie, I'm sure he has some fanclubs out there somewhere. I want to be in a fan club for Luthien Tinuviel. She's cool! But what about Haldir? And old Barliman could use a fan club too. Oh, and I really like Elanor Gamgee!! She
definatly needs to be more appreciated! Arwen

There are so many different characters in his books I wouldn't be able to make my mind up about which one to join(fan club that is) Glorfindel is a sweetie and deserves a fan club me thinks!

I've not noticed anything about Rosie Cotton/Gamgee, she waited quite a whil for Sam to come back, not that ehs knew he would. That deserves somthing.

I was going to say Beregond but now I know that there's another person out there who likes him too!
I would like to add Hirgon and Hama. Both were killed viciously. Very sad.

I would love to honor Rosie Cotton (or Gamgee later) and express my wishes to be her.
And I just noticed this has been said so...I praise also Idril Celebrindal, for she was a strong woman. [ November 10, 2002: Message edited by: ColletteTook ]

Am I the only one who's interested in Eilinel? She's no more than a vision, really, and yet we see so much about her marriage to Gorlim in only a few lines, and his wistfulness and his desperation and his torture are so painful and sad. In fact, I think I'll include him in there too.

I second that, Belin. It was a very sad story.
I'd also like to add Gelmir and Gwindor, who suffered so much.

How about Amlach, Elenwe, Dior, Gorlim, Nerdanel, Ragnor, Damrod, Urthel...?
BTW, Sons of Feanor: Maedhros, Maglor, Celegorm, Caranthir, Curufin, Amrod, Amras. No offence but, how can we aprreciate them without even mentioning their names???

I'm glad Raefindel mentioned the underappreciated kinswoman of Ioreth, but no one has mentioned Ioreth herself??? Without her, Aragorn would have had more problems getting accepted as king in Minas Tirith!

Estelyn, I think the reason Ioreth gets left out is that she obviously appreciates herself to a high degree, which makes people less inclined to help her out . She's still cool, though.

Melkor *ducks as people throw things* Talk about underappreciated!!! If it weren't for him, there'd be no stories, but other than that he created fire, ice, mist, clouds, rain, snow, & the Misty Mountains.

I don't think anyone has mentioned Gil-Galad or Maedhros yet. I always felt so sad for Maedhros, loosing his hand like that.. and Gil-Galad.. fighting for the freedom of Middle-Earth and then just die and get no appreciation at all. *hmpf!*
Heh. They're both in Silmarillion. For those of you who haven't read it - read it.

Yeah! I likes Maedros! I really do! He's sooo sad! I feel sooo sorry for him! And Nienna! If someone already mentioned her, I forgot! But I like her.

How about the other poor Elves of Mirkwood that get overlooked because every teenage girl is desperately trying to find a portal into Legolas's bedroom? I mean, like "Elf #4" that accompanied Legolas to Rivendell...
