Overweight Elves??
I know this is probably as useless a question as you could get, BUT I want to ask it anyways. Everyone's heard the debate about Elves with beards, there were a few, Cirdan being one of them. So, THAT can happen. Now, what about overweight Elves?? I haven't heard of a single overweight Elf. I would think it's possible, I mean, aren't Elves famous for their feasts? . This has just been nagging me for at least two weeks. Anyone?

Just for the heck of it, I put Fat Elf into the name generator and it came out intelligent Dwarf!!!!
I don't recall it ever being mentioned in the books though. [ June 04, 2002: Message edited by: Elrian ]

LOL! That's hilarious Elrian! But nothing from the books that you can remember, eh? I didn't think so. Though I would swear to the Valar that it's possible. Though, I don't think any Elf has that much of a purpose to be a glutton. I always get the impression that they're very intune with nature, almost holy-like.

This question has been asked before and I remember that there is a portly elf living in Gondolin. Whether or not Tolkien would have kept a fat elf in or not I don't know. Maybe someone else has something to say.

Maybe if they had picked some overwieght actor to play Legolas, we wouldn't have this Orlando lover problem. Hmmm, one can only ask why?

if there ARE any fat elves, they'd be in Mirkwood. Mirkwooders are really, really weird.

Hmmm, interesting. I really don't think so. The Mirkwood elves who seem to like to eat and drink the most (at least in my mind) I don't think are fat, at least in the movie
Fat Elf + intelligent dwarf?? LOL Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

I agree that Elves must be very in-tune with nature, so they wouldn't really experience glutton.

Hehehe overweight Elves indeed
Come to think of it are there any instances of bald or balding Elves ? The guy who played Elrond in the FOTR movie seemed to have had the same receding hairline for over two thousand years since the last Alliance of Elves and Men. |

Overweight elves are most definitly a possibility, but not one I would have thought very likely. Because of the society they lived in it would probably not have been acceptable to be more than 7 stone!

Interesting question. They seem so High and holy and perfect. Maybe it's just not in their genetic material to become overweight. Remember, elves don't get sick very easily either. Their not as fallible as humans.

I suppose a fat elf is possible, but all that frolicking and dancing going on at the feast probably keeps the weight down. Anyone know of an who elf led (or leads) a sedentry lifestyle?

lol! Yes, the frolicking and merrymaking would cut down on the fat, I guess. Also, the Mirkwooders were what I had in mind when I asked this question, which I guess wasn't that wierd after all. Also, the Mirkwooders had a tough time with those spiders! So I guess they had a lot of activity going on. Thanks for asking my question, guys! Most of us seem to agree that it's possible...but unlikely. Guess that's why I havne't heard of any.

Hey Vega -- The actor who played Elrond was Hugo Weaving. You may remember him from the Matrix.

I don't think elves can be overweight because they are mystical, magical and powerful people. I don't think it's in their nature to be fat.

The ancient Celtic tribes (in Roman times) fined their warriors if their girth became too large, though I can't see elves doing that.
